TASK 1
An audit about personal skills
Learning styles
There are 4 different styles of learning which is called as VARK. VARK is an
abbreviation for Visual, Auditory, Reading and Kinesthetic learners. Different people have
different ways to learn the skills. Some believes that Reading learning skills is suitable for them,
whereas some believes that auditory learning is best for them. The explanation for these learning
styles is explained below:
Visual learning style: In this the learner learns when he sees the visual representation of the
learning topic. He understands the whole concept very well when he views the graphical or 3D
presentation. He believes that he would be able to absorb the topic more effectively when it is
happening or presented before him (Zopiatis and Theocharous, 2018). They are said to be
holistic learners who learns about the topic which it is happening before them. These learns gain
more knowledge in them when information is presented in charts, graphs or in table rather than
in paragraphs or huge sentences.
Auditory Learning style: In this learning style, a person learns about the topic very well when
he hears it. In this a leaner prefers to take the lessons or lectures from a teacher or tutor who
would teach him about the topic verbally. By verbal listening the learner learns well about the
topic and increases his knowledge. It has been observed that people who lies in this category are

often excellent in group activities as they understand the things and activities when other
members recites to them. They also would be able to make other people understand about
activities verbally. These people do not believe in taking notes, they think that note taking is
more a distraction activity. Concentration listening eliminates the need of taking notes for a
person.
Reading/ writing learning style: In this learning style, a person gains the learning through
reading from books. They effectively understand the concepts or topic through reading about the
same. They prefer information which is in written form. This written form can be in terms of
handouts or in power point presentation. These people prefer to take notes in their lecture so that
it can be used in remembering the learning or topics (Mohammad, 2020).
Kinesthetic learning style: These learners learn through their senses. The teacher or the lectures
make the things or topic understand to them through sign language, senses, touch and etc. They
are more effective learner when the things are making them understand through sign language or
through touch.
Through analyzing my learning style, I get to know that my way of learning style is
Visual. I grab the learning more quickly and effectively when it is presented before myself in a
visual form. I prefer to watch the practical presentation about the topic to get it permanently
fixed in brain. Apart from that I also prefer to perform the practical from the theory which I have
learned. This helps me in performing my theory learning in practical. Therefore, visual learning
style is my preferred learning style.
Audit of employability skills
There are various skills which are helpful in gaining a good employability. Some of these
skills are:
Adaptability: A person should have the skills to get himself adjust in this dynamic environment.
He must adopt the changes which the organization may applies with time. An employee must
understand the need for bringing change and must act in the required manner to support the
change. Not only this, an employee must bring the necessary developments and upgradation in
his skills and knowledge. As the business environment is changing very fast with time, there is a
need for the employees to upgrade their skills and knowledge according to the change otherwise
they might have the danger to lose job. I have analyzed from my self-audit that I have the ability
to adopt the required change within me (Petliovana, 2018). I know the importance of bringing
the necessary changes in skills with the time as external environment factors are changing very
fast. Hence, I have the skills for adaptability.
Leadership: Leadership is the ability to influence a person or a group of people to follow a
particular course of actions or path. Leader must be someone who has the ability to rule people,
empathic, trustworthy, confident and extrovert. Through these traits he would be able to again
confidence of people or employees. In an organization when a leader gets successful in gaining
the confidence of his employees then the employees would freely can follow the path which their
leader has directed for them with full productivity. From the self-audit I analyses that the

leadership quality in me is there. All the traits which are necessary to become a good leader has
inherited in me. I believe that when given an opportunity of leader, my performance will be up to
the mark. I have an effective leadership skill.
Team work: Team work is very important when working in any organization. All the tasks are
given or allotted to employees in groups in which they have to allot the activities in such a way
that the whole objective for forming a group will get achieved. Working in a team is an art. For
working in a team there are few things which needs to take care of like proper communication,
timely meetings, allocation of roles and responsibilities, listening to other members and so on.
From my self-audit I believe that I have the ability to work effectively in a team.
Motivation: I have the ability to get other people motivated to perform the job. Apart from that I
also believe that I get myself motivated with time so to perform the work with much zeal and
willingness. Motivation is very important to perform any task and it has been observed that a
person performs the work will full productivity when he performs the job of his own interest.
This will give him the motivation to do the work with much greater productivity (Orido, 2017).
Hence, I have the ability to get motivated and getting other people motivated for performing the
work.
Key transferrable skills
There are various transferrable skills, some important skills can be as follows:
Problem Solving: This skill is very important as an individual as it helps a person in solving the
problems which he encounters in his way. Inculcating the problem-solving skill helps in solving
the issues or puzzles in an organization also. An effective manager is one who is able to solve all
the operational or management related problems in organization can get solved in a much proper
and fruitful manner. The problem solving must be such that it gives best decision and yield more
profit to organization. I believe that I need to work more on my problem-solving skills. This skill
will help me in making better decisions about things and situation that would lead to more
effective situation or outcome.
Analytical skills: Analytical skills are related to solving the problems which are concern with
analyzing and examining the situation and condition. Through the proper analyses of situation,
the current and past situation can be examined that can help in making the future decisions about
the organization working and activities (Filimonau and Mika, 2019). Through the conclusion
gained by analytical skills many strategies and tactics can be applied which will result in good
performance management. I believe that I don’t have appropriate skills of Analytical. I need to
work much harder to gain command with this skill. This skill can be learning through taking
various classes and lectures which can teach these skills to me.
Technical skills: The technical skills are related to operation of information technology or
computer. The majority of organization now searching for the employees who are sophisticated
with the use of technology. Therefore, it has become very necessary for the employees to gain
these technological skills so that they can operate in the organization in a more proper manner.
From my self analyses it can be found out that I only know about some of basics of information

technology which is not sufficient in performing the task. Therefore, it is a need to gain this skill
within me that can be achieved through taking necessary classes or coaching which can taught
me the same.
Decision making: It is one of the powerful expertise for the individual and which helps in
individual in settling on the choices to be viable and to settle on sure that the choice ought to be
made subsequent to examining all the viewpoints. Dynamic abilities are significant as I would
see it since it would help me in dealing with the group in the association and it is vital expertise
in the administration. It would help me in breaking down current realities and bits of knowledge
about the point and as indicated by that examination it can help me in settling on the better and
compelling choices. Dynamic ability is likewise significant as it causes me in setting me up my
abilities for the future employability openings as dynamic abilities helps in building up the
administration abilities and it can help me in accomplishing my objectives and goals and it helps
in getting the acknowledgment in the association (Huang, Sun and Law, 2020). This ability is
significant for improvement of my range of abilities as it sets me up for the future chances and
encourages me in settling on the choices with respect to my profession after cautiously
investigating the climate. In the association dynamic expertise will help me in settling on the
choices with respect to the issues in the association and helps in proposing the answer for the
issue. Dynamic abilities are significant for me as it causes me in settling on the choice in my
everyday life as it would encourages me in taking care of my day-by-day issues and sets me up
to settle on the viable choices later on.
Reflection on communication skills
The communication skill is very important to have when working in an organization.
Communication is a process in which sender sends the message to receiver. The message gets
delivered to other party through various modes and mediums. Effective communication must be
straight, short and to the point. Good skills will help an employee in gaining a good reputation in
organization. A person must gain the command in both written and oral communication. Written
communication is one in which the message is send in writing, like emails, text messages, letters,
memos and much more. In written communication the sender must be very particular about his
grammar, spellings, and sentence forming. These are the factors which makes a written
communication effective and impactful. If not, the impact of written communication will not be
that much. Also, the communication performed within organization is formal so there is a high
need to use correct salutation for the receiver. Communication skills plays a paramount role in
gaining the employability in organization. Here, the good communication is necessary for
employees to communicate the messages to other people like juniors or superiors in a proper and
clear manner. For this both the written and oral communication plays an important role. The oral
communication helps an individual in speaking the message clear and accurate. Through clear
oral communication the other party understands the message properly and it also throws a good
impression upon them (Kemala, Fajri and Maulani, 2020). In oral communication all the
confusions and misunderstanding can get clear hand to hand, there will be no room for
misunderstandings, the roles and responsibilities will be clearly mentioned which automatically
leads to the attainment of objectives. When the people or parties involves in communication
Document Page
cannot manage oral communication then the importance of written communication takes place.
To write or draft the message one must take care of spellings, correct use of grammar and proper
use of salutation. In the world of business, the communication is always done in formal language
where the message or communication is draft in short, straight and concise form. The words or
vocabulary used in drafting the message must be proper.
In the world of cooperate, written communication helps in sending the message to senior people.
When drafting the business mail or message, formal language must be used, there should be no
spelling mistakes, the grammar used must be accurate and proper salutation must be present. The
communication must be straight, effective and understandable (Jara, Babb and Flohr, 2019).
According to me, my written communication is in average. I have a good understanding
of vocabulary, but I believe that my English grammar is quite weak which leads to poor
impression upon the reader. Apart from that I do know who to write a mail, memo, contract and
etc, which works as a positive mark for me. I have to work more on my written communication. I
can do the same through regular practice of document writing or mail drafting by reviewing
some of their examples. And when talk of oral communication, I am also an average. I have
noticed that I mumble while communicating with someone face to face in office. I have also
noticed that on office calls the tone gets much low and the too mumble in that. To gain a good
position in employability it is very necessary for me to develop a good oral communication. For
making the necessary development in this, I have to do regular practice of speaking. I should
perform an exercise of speaking about any topic randomly in front of mirror. This practice will
help me in knowing well of my expressions, paralanguage, and also improves my oral
communication. Therefore, after performing the self-audit about my communication skills, it can
be concluded that oral and written communication is in average upon which I need to work.
Reflection of team working skills
To work in a team, some skills are very necessary for example, it is essential to develop listening
skills. When in team every member will put their opinions and suggestions about their way of
working, listening to all those develop is a quality of a good team skills. Giving chance to every
person to put his point is also a good skill for team which I believe as a team member I possess
that. The communication must be every clear and transparent among the group members. There
should be regular meetings of team in which they can discuss about their problems, issues and
their progress in work (Zahedpisheh and et al., 2017). In team working, giving the equal roles
and responsibilities is very necessary. The roles must be given according to the interest and
specialization of individuals. This would lead to effective completion of work before or on time.
Through the self- audit about my team working skills, it can be analyzed that I have the quality
of listening to other. I humbly and patiently can listen to what others have in their point of view.
I also believe in transparent communication where I and other team members can freely put the
point and suggestion before each other. I also have the leadership quality to run a team and
divide all the associate roles and responsibilities among team members according to their
specializations and interest. Therefore, when talk about the team working skills, I am very good
in handling it. I have the ability to convert an ineffective team into an effective one.

My approach towards the team management is very systematic. I first examine about the goals
which me and my team needs to achieve. Then I divide the goals into small activities or work.
After segmenting them, I divide the roles and responsibilities to the team members according to
their interest and caliber. I also manage to conduct regular team meeting in which the team
members are participate and share their problems and reports about their work. With this
systematic approach the whole work gets performed in a system and runs according to decided
schedule. This proves that I have ability to handle the effective team and in achieving the
objectives in time.
Summary of personal strengths and weakness
From the self audit performs above, it following strengths and weakness can be noted:
Strengths: I have the quality of good team handling skills. I can handle the team and members in
a very effective and efficient way. I also have a good leadership skill which enable me in
influencing and handling the forks in a more proper way. With my leadership skills I can
influence the members into a particular direction which would lead to the path of achieving the
organization mission. I have the skills of adaptability (Astuti, Ginaya and Sadguna, 2018). I can
adapt to the environment and according to the environment. I have the ability to bring and handle
the immediate change in organization with the help of systematic approach. My analytical skills
are also very good. These analytical skills will help me in calculating the future trends,
preference, forecasts and much more. Data analytics is something which has become very
necessary in today’s business environment as for today data is the key. All the innovations and
decision are made after analyzing the data or information and then making the respective
conclusion out of it.
Weakness: I do not have the required technical skills. Now a day, organization hire the people
who are sophisticated with the use of information technology. It has become a necessary skill to
gain. I also lack behind in both oral and written communication. I believe I do not have the
proper skill to speak and write the communication or message. Apart from that, my decision
making skills are also poor and hence needs to get developed immediately.
TASK 2
An achievement of dream job
I saw some of the advertisement about vacancies in big hotels. This advertisement of big hotel
includes the vacancy ads of Holiday inn hotel, Radison blue, Clarks, Hyatt and etc. The job role
for which the vacancies were out includes manager, hotel care takers, operations and etc. As the
companies are very famous and runs their operations in almost around the whole world. Getting
job in these companies is very good for starting (Patel, Trivedi and Ezzy, 2018).
From initially, I had an interest into hospitality industry. The always wanted to work in this
sector. To pursue my dream, I took the course of hospitality management from a well known
college. There I gain a lot of knowledge about the course. In these knowledges or learning I learn
about the customer handling, operational skills, multi tasking skills and much more.
Document Page
To gain employability in such big hospitality companies, there are some skill which are very
necessary to inculcate or have, those skills are:
Good communication skills: To handle the customers and solve their issues, it is very necessary
to have a good communication skill. Through the communication only the employee or staff can
make them understand about their queriers and also they can serve them in a proper manner. It is
the staff members only who directly contact with customers, so it is very necessary to develop
the communication skill to address the queries of customers and understand them properly.
Therefore, a good communication skill is very necessary to have.
Multi tasking: A hospitality industry employee must be good in handling customers, handling
room services, solving up the queries, managing the operational work and the like. They must
have the ability to handle the multi work at a single time (Qiu and et al., 2019). Or he must be
excelling in these activities so that if necessary, the staff can get shift from one department to
another.
Guest handling: This is an important skill; the success of a hotel totally depends upon the way
guest are handles. If the guests are handling in improper manner in which the hotel is not
listening to the needs to guests, the level of satisfaction does not match with the price paid and so
on then the guests will not give a good rating to that hotel. But whereas when the queries of
guests are handled in a proper manner, the services provided to them is top notch and their
satisfaction level is equal or more then the price paid by them then the guests will automatically
provide a good rating to hotel.
Information technology: This skill is very necessary so to enter the information and data about
the company’s activities and operations at a particular server (Shariff, Razak and Zainol, 2017).
This information then later will use of make necessary decisions about the companies’ strategies
and future operational activities. This skill is also useful in handling the customer queries, issues,
and booking which are made online. The information technology is also used for performing the
marketing activities by organization.
The self audit table can help in analyzing the level of these skills are in me. The table is
