INTRODUCTION
Small business in United Kingdom is increasing day by day due to the changing business
environment. The individual and group of individuals have started their small business in
different sectors. These businesses are started with low investments and operation is conducted
within the limited geographical area because of low capital invested. The examples of small
businesses are retail stores, saloons, hotels, consultancy firms, small garages and other. These
businesses are mainly owned solely or they may be the partnership business. The income
generated from these businesses is at less because of operation in the limited area with low
capital investments. The rules and regulation for starting up of small business varies in different
countries. These business face high amount of competition in business world with large and
reputed industries operating in similar kind of business within same geographical area. A bed
and breakfast (B&B) business is a hotel business which provides service of the overnight
accommodation and breakfast to its clients. The B&B provides affordable accommodation to
customers as compared to hotels. This assignment will analyse the strengths and weakness of
B&B and will use comparative measures to eliminate weakness of business.

3.1 Assessment of existing business objectives and plans.
The every business is incorporated to achieve its goals and targets within the time frame.
For attaining these goals and objectives the owners and the managers try their best to achieve
them with effectiveness and efficiently(Bridge and O'Neill, 2012). The main objective of the
Forth Guest house is to increase the number of the customers for its service. For increasing the
numbers of the customers for the service Forth Guest house have framed the marketing plan. The
marketing plan will help the business to create the awareness among the target market about the
service provided by the business. In marketing plan business will market its service through the
use of social media broadcasting, television, radio and banners. The use of these medium in the

marketing will help the business to increase the new customers for its service. The objective of
developing the brand image among the market is also fulfilled by the marketing plan, the
business have the objective to increase the profit earning from the services provided by the
business. For increasing the profit business has developed the pricing plan for the service which
will help to determine the price for the service served by the Forth Guest house. The pricing plan
will help to set the price which is not too high or too low. The business has the objective to
provide the quality service to the each customers for providing the quality service it have
planned the to provide the training to its staff members which will help in providing quality
service and attaining the complete satisfaction level of the service user. Forth Guest house have
objective for providing of quality service to the service user for which business have planned
service development program in which it will provide training to employees to provide service
effectively to the customers. The business have plan to develop the working of the in order to
provide quality service which will help to attain the complete satisfaction level of the customers
of the business. The business have objective to provide extra service of transport facilities to its
customers. The main motive behind providing transport service to customer is to make convinent
for customers to reach at the hotel without any issue. The business will provide pick and drop
facility to the customers with extra charges. For providing transport facility Forth Guest house
owner have plans to purchase vehicle’s and hire a driver who will help in picking up and in drop
of customers from hotel to destination(Battisti and Perry, 2011).
3.2 Business plans to incorporate appropriate changes.
To implement the changes in organisation it is necessary for business to develop the
effective business plan(Barbero, Casillas and Feldman, 2011). The development of the business
plan for incorporating the changes is a difficult task. The plans must be framed such a way that it
is has main focus on the achievement of the goals and objectives of the business organisation.
The development of effective plan for incorporating change within the organisation is only key
factor in success of business by the changes made. The plans for incorporating changes is not
legal document plan can be changed while implementation as per the situation arises. The
business have analysed current structure of the business in order to develop the effective plan for
incorporating the change in the organisation. The business has developed the pricing plan in
order to change the price for the service of the business. The effective pricing plan will help the

3.3 Action plan to implement the changes.
The action plan is guidelines to managers and owners of business in day to day working
of the business. The action plan must be developed strategically. In implementation of changes
action plans plays significant role. In preparation of action plan the aims and objectives of
business must be considered important (Burns, 2010). The action plan must specify targets of
business, which has to be achieved by implementing plan. Action plan of business is carried
down in certain steps and phases. The each and every steps of action plan conducted in business
must be carried out safely which will help organisation to achieve better results from action plan.
The personnel implementing changes within organisation must pre plan the tools which have to
be used in implementation? Determining method and collection of information is first step in
development of action plan. The roles and responsibilities of personnel who are implementing
the action plan must be clear and specified which will eliminate the misunderstanding and
mismanagement in the implementation. Information can be collected through newspapers and
mass media which is second step in action plan after selection of methodology. The activities of
action plan must be performed step by step within the time frame to achieve effective results
from implementation of action plan. The roles and responsibilities must be divided among the
personnels as per qualifications, skills and ability to perform. The monitoring of action plan
implemented is necessary to check progress of implemented changes. The stages of action plan
are pre-determined in implementing change (Business, 2013).

4.1 Impact of the proposed changes on the business and its personnel.
The change in business is implemented to achieve the certain goals and targets of
organisation(Eid and El-Gohary, 2013). The change implemented in business helps in
development of business. The changes applied in business may have positive or it may lead to
negative impact on operation and in success of Forth Guest house. The changes made in the
organisation have direct on its personnel’s and business. The use of the new technology in
business have reduced work load of personnel's with the help of software of online bookings by
customers. The change has positive impact on personnel’s of Forth Guest house in increasing the
performance. Ability to perform the work and provide quality service to customers have been
enhance because of changes in business. The changes have negative impact on personnel’s that
changes in business have led to increase in roles and responsibilities of individuals because of
the expansion of business. The changes have also impacted business positively. The change has
increased the number of potential customers for Forth Guest house. The increase in number of
customers helped business in increasing the profitability of business. Implementation of change
within the organisation helped Forth Guest house in changing the structure of working and
helped to enhance the performance of business. The change in the pricing policy of the
organisation helped business to earn more profit without decline the number of service user. The
changed helped business to develop brand image among targeted market significantly. The
change in marketing policy has helped to select best medium for promotion of the business
through social media broad casting, television and radio. The finance policy helped business to
collect funds from different sources with the minimum cost. These collection of funds due to
change in finance policy will help Forth Guest house to expand its business in other countries.
Finance policy has helped to make better and effective utilisation of money. Implementation of
change helped the business in expansion in different countries and helped in earning foreign
currency(Forsman, 2011).
4.2 Plans to manage the changes in business.
The most of small business does not make changes in the business because of certain
risks(Gill and Biger, 2012). The risk are also involved even the changes are made to create the
healthy and better work environment within the business. Forth Guest House impact both on

personnel’s as well as the business. The changes have helped business to increase its profitability
and brand image. The business should significantly handle the changes applied within business
environment. The impacts due to change should be taken positively to maintain the healthy
environment in business. Fourth Guest house must provide the training session to its existing
employees in order to adapt the impacts occurred due to changes made in business. The training
will help employees to adopt the new business environment and continue their work
significantly. Team spirit must be maintained in business in order to cope up with the change in
business. Impacts of change in the business can be managed with effective leadership during the
period of implementation period. The suggestions and feedbacks must be taken time to time to
evaluate problems faced by the employees of business due to implemented change. Suggestion of
employees must be considered important factor in order to eliminate negative impact of changes
and it helps in management of change. Managers of business must take necessary action for

monitoring helps in protecting from fraudulent activities which can be performed by the
members and employees of business organisation. The significant and continuous monitoring by
responsible person of organisation will help to evaluate the brand image of business in the
market. Monitoring on the marketing policy of business will help to determine the effectiveness
of promotional tools used by checking the reach and frequency among targeted market. It helps
in evaluating the need to increase the number of employees within business to increase efficiency
in business performance(Mahmood and Hanafi, 2013).

CONCLUSION
From the above report it is being concluded that the Forth Guest house is small business
enterprise works in bed and breakfast hotel sector which operates in United Kingdom. The Forth
Guest houses is a 4 star rated business provides overnight accommodation and breakfast to
service user. It provide free Wi-Fi and car parking service to its consumers at affordable price.
The business have identified some of its strengths and weakness and used comparative methods
of SWOT analysis in order to evaluate its performance. The Forth Guest house have made
certain changes within business to increase efficiency and effectiveness in performance. The
implementations of changes have helped business to provide quality service to the services users.
This helped Forth Guest house to increase the number of service user with the effective pricing
policy. The business expansions have benefited business in earning foreign currency and creating
brand image in international business market. The report also concludes that for increasing
effectiveness and efficiency in business performance certain changes are necessary with
