Introduction
In this modern generation number of consumers uses smartphones and mobile devices
are able to control daily activities like lifestyle, GPS and behavioural pattern. All these
kinds of activities are generated automatically in the mobile phone which is called a
digital diary (Abdullah, et al., 2016). A smart diary is an advanced technology which is
used to store data or information and customers use this diary to control their physical
activities (Bajaj, et al., 2016). The smart diary can be used to records and analysis the
personal life of any person and it has the capability to track the location of human-like
GPS. The main objective of this report is to understand the working mechanism of the
smart diary and explain the framework of this modern technology.
Overview of the project
A smart diary is a type of application which is used to record data or information of any
user and it is growing very fast. The smart diary is very popular technology because it
provides a platform to control and monitor physical activities of any person. This
project divided into many parts such as the background of research, research plan,
question, aim, and scope of this project (Cena, Likavec, and Rapp, 2018). All these points
will be covered in this report and the limitation of the smart diary will be explained by
the researcher. In the first part of this project, research will explain the background of
the report that involves purpose, aim, and scope of this project.
In the second part, researchers collect data or information about the smart diary and
provide research strategies to achieve the goal of this project report. It is observed that
the main problem occurs with this technology is that the quality of collected data is very
low due to which many consumers lost their private information (Cho, et al., 2007).
Moreover, this smart diary may not cover the expected contents because different
persons have a distinct understanding. In this project, the research produces a simple
approach to gather knowledge regarding smart diary and collect data from various
resources like journals, books, and articles. In this project, research will use qualitative
data analysis method to understand the concept of smart diary and data will be
collected with the help of primary and secondary process. At the end of this report, the

Background
The smart diary is a kind of software which is used by many peoples to analysis their
daily life activities. It may be a perianal organizer for individuals that can be used for
health tracker, secret diary, tasks manager, and monitor the daily life of consumers. A
personal diary is defined as a process to records individuals’ experience, their feelings,
and ideas. Anne Frank is the best example of the smart diary that can read books and
control user’s daily activities (Diao, et al., 2016). It involves different types of sensors
and devices which are connected to smartphones and GPS is used to track the location
of any person. This type of technology makes the main four contributions, for example,
it can represent user daily life with the help of the narrative process, a practical process
is used to make inferences and produce smart diaries, produce two way process to solve
issues of data analysis process, and give an accurate and effective algorithm programme
by which consumers can secure their data (Harari, et al., 2017). To develop this type of
innovation there are few challenges faced by research such as first data is collected
through the heterogeneous raw process to read data that take more time, personalize of
information is very complex process, and this diary is established in a particular
language therefore, it needs a new model to arrange raw data. There are main four
layers of smart diaries such as raw data collection, event personalization, generation of
dairy and context analysis. The raw data collection process is used to comprehensive
consumer’s profiles with the help of motion activities, location information, and call
history. Context analysis layer is used to extract data or information from raw data and
it has the ability to control the motion of user activities (Jalal, Kamal, and Kim, 2014).
Event personalization layer is used for filtering and ranking process by which users can
filter their activities. The filtering step runs very fast and algorithm of memory saving is
used to select the events of all individuals. At the end of this process, filtered events are
used to produce the layer of the smart diary (Jeong, et al., 2015). Diary generation layer
is used for mapping process and it is also called as narrative structure. In this layer, the
consumer gives the command to dairy and stores their daily life data with the help of
the personalization process and multiple structure models are used because one event
meaning can be expressed into numbers of ways. Some studies utilize smart diaries to
understand the correlation between physical activities like exercise and health issues
like diabetes and the use of this type of technology is increasing very fast. It is observed

that many consumers use this system to secure their private information like account
details, passwords, and login ID. It ensures that users use proper security systems like
password based process for smart diaries because there are many hackers they can
easily block human private information’s. In this modern generation, consumers use
various third-party applications which are developed by malware and these application
store user personal data from mobile phones and ensure that they use only authentic
servers to operate smart diaries.
Research problem
There are many applications available in the market through which consumers can
store data but they are developed by the third party due to which they can lose their
private data. To reduce this type of problem information technology established a new
application which is called as a smart diary that can store any physical activities and
health-related issues. These technologies are more secure rather than other application
and a consumer can analysis and control their personal information.
Research plan
The research plan is a type of process which includes different strategies, methods, and
programmes that will be used by the author at the time of research. For this research
there are main three processes will be used, for example, research design, and data
collection method and research strategy (Jeong, et al., 2015). The selection of these
methods will increase the effectiveness of research and research will achieve the goal of
this project. The main aim of this research is to make a framework of smart diaries and
different types of studies and journals will be used in this project to maintain the quality
of the project. The goal of developing this research plan is to ensure the performance of
research along with the stability of data collection.
Research design
A mixed method will be used in this project which involves both research designs such
as a qualitative and quantitative method. In qualitative research, the theoretical
information will be collected from writers and individuals in order to realize their
opinion on the smart diary. In this research a survey will be conducted to gather data

Research strategy
In this research project, the data will collect with the help of a survey and communicate
with experts by which a researcher can take the views of people. This research method
will help to research for collection of relevant information about the smart diary and
author will take data from previous research. A literature review is a very best strategy
to accumulate information regarding research topic and in which material will be
composed of different sources like journals and books. Microsoft office will be adopted
to make a report on this research topic and the theoretical martial will be collected from
the survey, face to face interview and peer-reviewed papers.
Data collection method
In this research project, both types of methods will be used to collect data such as
primary and secondary. The secondary type of data will be gathered from the different
process, for example, books, journal article, research paper, online websites and

survey and interview with experts and researchers can use a questionnaire with
participants. With the help of these research processes, the researcher will be able to

Research aim
The main aim of this research is to investigate and build a smart diary to create a
personalised model with minimal human input to sense, infer and record the user’s
daily life. Following objectives will be used in this project to enhance the aim of this
research:
To explore the conceptual understanding regarding smart diaries
To identify challenges faced by smart diary
To recommend the strategies to overcome the challenges faced by this
technology
Therefore, this project research will use both qualitative and quantitative data method
to achieve the aim of this research topic.
Research scope
The main scope of this research is to produce a modern generation of smart diary
software which depends upon the Android operating system (OS) to record the
individual's lifestyle. There are few people that use this diary to understand the
relationship between certain activities and health quandaries. This research has wider
scope in the field of information technology because it is a very effective application by
which users can store their private details. With the help of this project, users can
enhance their knowledge regarding smart diary and it will help to improve the security
of user personal data (Tai, Fang, and Chang, 2017). In this modern generation, many
consumers store their private details at a different platform like a cloud but smart diary
provides a way by which they can easily record their data. This technology was
developed to store the daily life activities of any human being and many consumers use
this system as a backup plan.
Study research questions
This project is completely based on the working mechanism of the smart diary and this
technology faced various challenges which are described in this report. The main

Limitation of this project
At the time of research, the researcher faced various kinds of challenges such as
resources, time, cost and finding relevant information regarding this topic. Due to this
limitation research did not collect all information about the smart diary and he did not
explain prevention methods to avoid issues faced by smart diaries. Moreover, the
author has other limitation at the time of the survey such as they have only focused on
the interview and sample size (Varma, Nimse, and Vish, 2017). In addition, the
researcher has a responsibility to improve the privacy of consumer personal data and
author does not explain the strength and weakness of smart diary.
The assumption of this project
In this research, it is assumed that the security in the smart diary is very high by which
many individuals record their daily life activities. It is also assumed that the security
threats and risks are very less and consumers can save their private details like account
numbers, and bank information (Triantafyllidis, et al., 2017). Therefore, the researcher
used qualitative and quantitative data analysis process during research and it is
assumed that they will collect data or information from journal articles and previous
research. At the time of the survey and research design there are following assumption
is taken by the researcher:
The people will give a proper explanation regarding research topic
Participants will describe the phenomena of this study and they provide
secondary data about the smart diary.
