Introduction
The concept of the smart room of the hotel is the most important technology trends. This is
emerged with the industry of hospitality. Smart hotel idea is attractive for customers for many
reasons that consist of personalization and greater convenience. In today’s time owners of
hotel willing to embrace the idea to implement the technology of the smart room. A smart
room includes a technology that uses the internet for more effective presentation of room.
This fit to everyday device through the connectivity of the internet. Many objects and devices
in the room have enough capability to receive and send digital information. Capabilities of
devices are referred to as smart devices and consist of many benefits. The concept of the
smart room includes control of voice, energy efficiency, automation, and improved
responsiveness (Baljak, 2012). The technology of the room is also capable to interact with
guests by own personal smartphones. I agree with the author as it is very important to move
with the technology. This increases satisfaction level of guests with new functions. I have
visited the Marriott hotel that delivers many facilities to customers from check-in to check
out to guests. In the future, it will support the industry of hospitality to attract more customers
and building their future proactive for the upcoming generation (Galov, 2012). This will also
help the organization to survive in a competitive environment as the industry is growing
rapidly. The following discussion will cover the ways to convert a hotel room in a smart
room.
Transformation of hotel rooms in smart rooms
This is the most important way that hotels made room into a smart room by the addition of
personalized controls of the room. One example is a technology that consists of lights, air
conditioning, heating, and curtains that controlled through a centralized location like a smart
speaker, smartphone, tablet, or smart hub. Famous brands in the industry of hospitality have
rolled out solutions of the smart hotels and allow guests to control sensors in their rooms by
smartphones. Many of the hotels have brought the concept to allow the guests to set desired
conditions in the room by phone and automatic devices that effectively keep the room
regulation. Lighting control by voice has also become more widespread by a device like
Amazon Echo. This is a very effective way to attract a large number of customers as
increased level of personalization and enjoyment of guests (Buhalis & Leung, 2018).

Entertainment by voice-controlled
Smart hubs and speakers are connected to devices of entertainment contained in a keen hotel
room and allow devices to control by recognition of voice. This support visitors to issue basic
directions of voice to turn the TV on or off commencing anyplace in the room or to alter the
channel. The hotels go by this concept and empower users to issue a more critical command
like playing music playlists by smart speakers, ordering each view films by voice control. It
adds a further convenient experience as device can be cast-off from anyplace in the room.
This is also known as the biggest advantage to improve sustainability in the hotel of rooms.
This will lead to a decrease in energy waste and promote an eco-friendly environment (Koo,
2017).
Faster services to guests
The main advantage of the things of internet in a smartphone is ability to associate devices to
services of a hotel. This kind of service has ranged from guest services at the traditional level,
room service like food or drink orders, and booking a massage session. This consists of a
voice-activated keen hub and even deliver guests by access to an application by a device of
tablet and TV. This helps customers to order service of a room by clicking on touch screen or
book sessions of the spa by simple voice command to the smart hub. Fast services to
customers' support to increase customer benefits. This also presents the organization with a
more effective response by using the internet source (Xiang, et al., 2015).
Sustainable hotel rooms
Customer’s at large increase concerned by notions like sustainability and likes to spend more
by eco-friendly brands. The management of hotels concerned by sustainability as increase
opportunities to protect money on costs of energy and improve the entire results of a
business. Technology like IoT helps to automated energy saving. Sustainable rooms of hotels
generate positive experiences for customers (Okumus & Bilgihan, 2014).
Interactive maps
This is the most important and unique way that chains of hotels have transformed into a
standards room in a smart room by uses of interactive wall maps. Connectivity of the internet
delivers opportunities to implement maps that give real-time information like online reviews
and restaurant opening times. One of the hotel hubs from Premier Inn has taken this concept
as a step that further blending by augmented reality technology. Application helps to point a
smartphone at wall maps, guest can see many information about the websites of local tourists

& places of interest increase the map’s core functions. Interactive maps help staff to access
many varieties of controlling the facilities and regulate them more effectively (Kuo, et al.,
2017).
Default choices of data-driven
This challenge is connected to smart room technique that includes maintaining user
confidentiality and taking the correct level of care by data collection. The data of user can be
utilized and collected without intruding on the individual's privacy and example of basic
device usage information. This supports to decide on data-driven evidence that is based on a
radio station and set as a default option and saves future guest time and effort. Technology
allows to improving the performance of electronic devices that are monitored remotely. This
allows the industry of hospitality to see the operating status (Chiappa & Rodolfo, 2015).
Entertainment at a personalized level
Room of the hotel can be converted to a smart room by the provision of options of
personalized entertainment. This includes ways that allow guests of the hotel to make use of
own account by services of the third party online like Amazon Prime, Netflix, Apple Music,
and Spotify. An organization like Amazon has launched Alexa for hospitality creation that
allows hotels to instrument smart voice control by a modified form of Echo speakers. This is
a planning to incorporate entertainment that enables guest to link personal account to device
and gains access to audio music and books. Faster and more reliable options intervene in the
timeliest possible moment increase situations and improve customer experience (Kim, 2017).
Conclusion
The technology of the smart room has become the most important concept as it increases the
experience of customers. Smart room controls allow visitors to get their room accurately
according to their requirements like lighting, temperature, and air conditioning deprived of
having manual adjust individual devices. The smart hotels offer devices of entertainment and
control by commands of voice or allow things to the service of room ordered without the
need to communicate another person. These all include entire convenience associated by
residing in a hotel and increase the guest perception of stay and make stay more impressive
and make them more likely to return in the future. These have a novelty factor and improve
demand and allow to increase rates of room and optimize the revenue generated through
guests. The process of conversation is needed substantial investment and smart rooms save
money on hotels.
