increased obsession with smartphones is leading to mental health crisis among the youth.

Smartphones on the entire generation. The significance of the research question is based on

Y. By the discussion of this question, the relevance of entire generation has been discussed.

second question, the mental health of teenagers and the young
adults have been discussed, which is based on the impact of the smartphones. The research

The above image is been selected because, in recent times, due to the excessive use of
smartphones, depression among the adolescent have bene increased. The image is the
representation of the current situation. The use of smartphones has led the youth into a crisis
and the effect of which is concerning in modern times. According to a survey the number of
high school goers who contemplated suicide increased about 25% between 2009 and 2017
(Spector, 2019). For the topic, such statistics indicate that the teens suffering from
depression has increased significantly and they are struggling and in dire need of help. The
deaths by suicide has also increased considerably as well. Based on the above image it can be
seen that the image is relevant as it represents the psychological state due to excessive
reliance on smartphones. A study found out that poisoning attempt among girls of age
ranging from 10 to 12 increased to 268 percent between 2010 and 2017 (Spector, 2019).

The above image has ben selected because, it represents the factors of less active
communication among the individuals, which is also been signified as the major problem of
this generation. The excessive use of smartphones leads to less
face to face interaction
among individuals. The youth have growing inclination towards using smartphones as a
means of communication rather than conversing in person (Rampages, 2015). It has altered
the comfort zones and therefore prevents resolution of conflicts and honest communications.
In terms of the meaning of the image, increased dependency on smartphones has led to
increased anxiety and disappointment in case of delayed response and instant joy in instant
responses affecting the mental health to a great extent. This above collage includes a

the generation, while using smartphone. Lastly, the image on the top-right shows that a
woman is sitting behind the steering wheel while concentrating on a smartphone. It has also
been found that the use of smartphones has increased the number of accidents (Jebaily, 2019).
In the terms of meaning of the image, the young adults have often shown negligence while
driving by replying to texts or answering phone calls. Traffic crashes due to negligence
among youth is one of the primary reasons for the death of teens all over the world. This is
relevant to the topic because the negligence while driving is the leading cause of accidents in
several countries claiming thousands of lives throughout the year.

Conclusion
The study discusses the effect of smartphones on the teens and young adults. While
the smartphones have contributed towards increased convenience but the attitude of the youth
towards it and increased obsession has led to several issues ranging from deterioration of
mental health to even death.
