BPM and Strategy:
Like almost all the businesses, the SmartShirt Pty Ltd is facing challenges from the
competitors. The quality and production related issues that SmartShirt Pty Ltd is facing currently
can be mitigated using a BPM strategy. The business process management approach will
improve the manufacturer efficiency. As the organization is looking forward to maintain low
cost, it is essential to hold the knowledge of the staff even after they leave. The BPM approach
allows the organizations to do it. Continues improvement is an essential part of SmartShirt Pty
Ltd’s business approach.
To some organizations, the BPM or business process management is about implementing
new technologies. Achieving automation in the business processes through the evaluation of
software development is often referred to business process management. The conventional
definition of BPM states itself as an optimizing approach that consist of techniques like Six
Sigma, TQM, CI and many more.
The business process management will allow the SmartShirt Pty Ltd to align their
operations as per the need of the customers. Martin and Anne will be able to deploy,
measure and keep track of the organization assets. The BPM has the ability to improve the
business process efficiency of the operations along with the quality of products. The cost of the
operations is reduced due to modification of existing process and implementation of new
operations. The implemented technologies will be handling most of the processes automatically
and accurate. As the collected data will be accurate and precise, the chances of operation delay
reduce. The SmartShirt Pty Ltd’s core departments work independently. Martin do not have
proper idea about what Anne does to market the products and Anne does not interfere in Martin’s

works. This can cause issues when SmartShirt Pty Ltd wants goes through tough situations. The
organization needs more clear and transparent process that can allow the executives to see what
is happening at all the corners of the organization.
The thing will be rethinking the customer experience. SmartShirt Pty Ltd have to come
out of e-commerce site and pop-up shops. The organization must consider the social media and
mobile based sales as other product selling strategies. The customer must have the option of
placing the order once the product is placed in the cart. The customer should be able to open the
website or mobile application later. The organization will manage the design of the product and
manufacturing of the product.
Problem Analysis:
The main issues of SmartShirt Pty Ltd is availability of only type of product. The
organization has only style for every product, the only variation is the material. Martin has
decided to stick to this single style as manufacturing different styles of products would cost
more. Promotion of the products were done after the raw materials arrive. This gave a very short
span of time to SmartShirt Pty Ltd to promote products. The organization needs a better planning
of the products and this will allow them to promote products properly. Samantha have to travel
to London for selecting the materials. The materials are sourced from a single supplier. Once,
Martin changed the manufacturer for making better profits by reducing the production cost.
However, the whole plan was blundered and a complete shipment had to sent back to
manufacturer because of incorrect shirt collar stitching. Not having any information of how to
produce the products, has been a huge challenge for SmartShirt Pty Ltd. The organization is
currently stuck to one single manufacturer in china. The organization do not have any continuous
improvement plan.

are as following.

details of the products. This detail will consist of the material and which supplier has supplied
the material. Based on the customer feedback, the system will generate a report to Martin. In this
report it will be mentioned that which materials are best and which are not.
