Project
AI Summary
This project scope statement details the development of a smartwatch-based system designed to promote health and wellness by tracking food intake using the device's camera and GPS. The project aims to provide users with personalized dietary recommendations and feedback, addressing health issues like obesity. Major deliverables include initiation documents, project design specifications, a working product, progress reports, defect reports, the final product, and a closure report. Success criteria encompass user acceptance testing (UAT) acceptance, absence of open defects, schedule/cost variance, positive customer feedback, and a high Net Promoter Score (NPS). The project is constrained by a 24-month timeframe, a budget of $300,000, and a tolerance level of 5% for schedule and budget variances. Assumptions include resource availability, project funding, and the technical skills of the project team. The references included articles related to project management and related subjects.

Scope Statement
Project Title: Smartwatch-based System
Date: April 2, 2019 Prepared by: Project Manager (PM)
Project Justification:
In the current lifestyle, it has become necessary to take care of health and maintain
balanced diet. The application makes use of camera and GPS to determine the food and
its quantity. The application will keep a track of the energy intake of the person in order
to provide the support and comments accordingly. This will have significant impacts on
the health conditions of the people and will allow them to maintain balanced diet and
healthy lifestyle. There are several cases of obesity and other health-related issues that
have been identified in the present times. The resolution of such issues will be obtained
with the release of the product in the market.
Major Deliverables:
Initiation Documents: Project Charter and Project Management Plan (PMP) will
be delivered in the initial phases to communicate all the stakeholders about the
project aims, objectives, methodology, and steps to execute.
Project Design: The design of the project front-end, back-end and the details of
the integration of the components will be included in the design.
Working Product: The smartwatch-based system will be delivered for the purpose
of UAT and quality assurance [1].
Progress Reports: These reports will be shared all throughout the project to
communicate the project progress to the stakeholders.
Defect Report: This report will include the names and details of the project
defects.
Final Product: The deployment of the final product will be done and rolled out.
Closure Report: It will be the final deliverable in the project. The report will
consist of the information on all the project activities carried out. There will also
be details of the project performance covered in this report. The reflection and

learning will be included and the information on the final project deliverables.
Project Success Criteria:
UAT Acceptance: The customers shall accept the product in the UAT phase and
the comments shall be positive.
No Open Defects: There shall not be any open defects at the time of the release of
the product in the market
Schedule/Cost Variance: The schedule/cost variance must be zero or shall have a
positive value at the time of the project release. The use of Earned Value Analysis
(EVA) will be done to find out the variance levels.
Customer Feedback: The customer feedback shall be collected after the roll-out of
the product. The feedback must have an integrated rating of 9 or above.
Net Promotor Score (NPS): The NPS of the product shall be 8 or above for the
product in the initial phase.
Constraints and Assumptions:
There are certain constraints that are applicable on the project.
The timeframe of the project including all the project tasks and activities shall not
exceed 24 months.
The total budget of the project must not be more than $300,000.
The tolerance level for the schedule and budget will be 5%.
The smartwatch-based system will be required to maintain the technical
compliance with the Smartphone and other technical applications.
There are also certain assumptions that are associated with the project:
The resources identified for the project will remain available throughout the
timeline of the project [2].
The resources will be available for 40 hours in a week during the entire project
timeline.
The project funds will be provided by the project sponsor.
The funds provided for the project will include the costs for the tools and
equipment as well.
The resources selected for the project will have knowledge and skills on the

technical tools and applications that will be used in the project for the design and
development of the system.
