AI Summary
This assignment presents a comprehensive smoking intervention plan developed by a student, focusing on addressing smoking habits in pregnant women. The plan includes a detailed self-assessment of the student's performance, evaluating various criteria such as content, theoretical framework, methodology, ethics, evaluation, and quality of management. The student provides a reflection on their thought process, discussing the context, feelings, evaluation, analysis, and conclusions drawn from the experience of creating the intervention plan. The reflection highlights the challenges faced, such as the time constraints and the need for individual behavioral therapy, and suggests potential improvements, including the integration of community or group-based intervention plans. The assignment aims to educate pregnant women about the health consequences of smoking and propose effective intervention strategies based on behavioral theories.

Part A
Identify for each criterion what grade you think you should be awarded. You should then
write comments against each one to defend the grade you have awarded yourself. You must
be more specific, i.e. how did you meet that threshold? What evidence is there to support
this? You should also provide the overall grade in the box provided.
Part B
Provide a reflection on your performance. Detailed guidance is provided to help you with this
task. You should aim to link your reflection to the self-assessment and ensure to indicate
strengths and ways you can improve performance. Try not to be less descriptive in your
reflections ‘I felt like’, ‘I enjoyed’, ‘I found it difficult to’ but instead engage in a higher level of
critical thinking e.g. ‘What did this mean?’ ‘What did you learn?’ ‘So what?’.

Smoking is one of the most notable habit that has severe consequences on health of an individual.
When associated with pregnancy, it becomes extremely important that the health outcomes are
understood and the pregnant women are educated about the health consequences, which will
also be affecting the health of their child. This is a critical topic development of an intervention
plan is very crucial as per my opinion.
The context behind this reflection is to present an overview of my though process while
creating an intervention plan to address the issue of smoking in pregnant women. I feel that even
though the pregnant women have the right of autonomy and they can pick up whatever behavior
they want, smoking should not be considered as their personal choice, as in this regard, they are
also risking the health of their infant.
While developing the intervention plan, I thought that creating a group-based or
community health promotion plan will not work. According to me, individuals may feel low in
accepting their bad behaviour or may want to keep such things private. For this, I opted for an
individual behavioral therapy program, in which the clients will be looked after individually and
personally.
Working to address such a critical issue was a good experience and helped me to get
detailed insight on the issue. However, developing an action plan with the aim of getting results
such quickly had been a poor experience and resulted in a bit of chaos.
However, overcoming the major issue of changing the thought process of the concerned
subjects challenged me. Such individual behavioural session therapy will take time, before
resulting to be effective and it is evident that pregnant women do not have much time to opt for
slow induction of behavioral changes in them.
Developing an intervention plan to address such a critical issue has been challenging as
well as informative experience. In addition to the individual behavior therapy sessions, I should
have added a provision for community or group-based intervention plan, which could have been
conducted post taking consent from the concerned pregnant female.
The experience of working on development of intervention plan had been very edifying
and helped to gain insights on how to gather or look up to resources for addressing a health issue.
