Evidence-based practice (EBP) is an interdisciplinary approach that enables doctors,
medical practitioners, and several other healthcare professionals make informed clinical
decisions, which would help provide the best possible patient outcome (R. Stevens 2013).
The practice started with evidence-based medicines and later spread to different practical-
based fields like psychology, nursing, education and more. Evidence-based practice enables
the healthcare providers to easily analyse a situation and know what measures to undertake in
such cases. Thus, EBP can heed to the professional development of the healthcare providers
(Ann Lavin, Harper and Barr 2019). One of the key advantages of this practice is that it
enables wise usage of health resources and funds. EBP has largely contributed in research
based on healthcare, nursing practices, and in the advancement in the field of medicine and
medical practices. The practice has successfully improved patient outcomes and has enabled
healthcare professionals provide effective and quality interventions, with chances of less or
no mistakes
2. Describe the purpose and the process of conducting EBPR in health and Social
care
Evidence-based practice is used to ensure that the clinical practice is based on appropriate
evidence, to help ensure the improvement in the patient’s well-being. Health and Social care
require effective clinical recommendations and consultation services, which are needed to be
accurate and backed with proper evidence. Hence, the main purpose of this type of practice is
to eliminate the chances of errors in treatment of patients and instead enable quality
treatment. The process of this practice includes identification and thorough understanding of
the medical issue, which can then enable the healthcare providers and nurses, implement their

A literature review can be defined as discussion of scientific articles related to a certain
issue or topic. The review consists of the reason behind the choice of topic, brief explanation
of the topic and a review or understanding of the different chosen articles on the topic
(Ramdhani, Ali Ramdhani and Syakur Amin 2014).
The following are some key skills which are required to draft or conduct a literature review:
 In-depth knowledge of the chosen topic or issue.
 Understanding the purpose and importance of the literature review.
 Ability to compare and analyse the different approaches regarding the issue chosen.
 Understanding the explanations of the different research papers thoroughly.
 Being aware of the different methodologies or approaches used in the researchers
conducted.

Skills a researcher must attain in order to successfully conduct a literature review:
 The researcher should develop a thorough understanding of the issue or the topic.
 The researcher should be able to identify the articles which are to be discussed in a
literature review in order to help identify and understand the research gap.
 He or she should be able to analyse the chosen articles and write their understanding
of the topic based on it.
 One would also require the awareness of the different methodologies that can be
employed for the chosen research topic.
Thus, in order to write a literature review, one must be able to be selective in choosing the
issue as well as the relating articles for review. They should be able to conduct a research and
literature review based on the basic moral and ethical codes of research (Mulic and Masic
2014).

Conducting academic research often gives rise to ethical and moral dilemmas. The
researchers should be able to analyse and detect the moral and ethical issues that might
arise from their research and how they are to address these concerns (B. Resnik 2015).
The skills which are necessary in order to ethically conduct research work in the fields of
Health and Social Care, are as follows:
 Respecting the fellow researchers as well as other participants involved in the
research work.
 The researchers should not misuse of the funds, complete disclosure of the sources
of funding and a detailed structure of the usage of funds in the research should be
maintained (Riley 2015).
 Ability to not disclose personal information of the patients as it can be considered
as a privacy violation.
 Conducting a deception free and precise research including implementation of
accurate methodologies.
 The research should be ethically and culturally appropriate and should not
discriminate against any religion or culture.
 The researchers should have a detailed knowledge of the morale and ethics and
should be able to accordingly implement in their research work, and should also
be able to cope with moral ambiguity that might arise during their research work
(Vanclay, Baines and Taylor 2013).

According to Weng et al. (2013), the paper shows the various levels of Evidence
Based Practice among medical health practitioners and it also discusses about the differences
in implementation of the Evidence Based Practice and it has been observed that there are
certain factors associated with its implementation including personal backgrounds and
understanding and perception towards Evidence Based Practice. The aim of the paper is to
suggest strategies for enhancing the implementation of Evidence Based Practice (Weng et al.
2013).
According to Morténius, Hildingh and Fridlund (2016), it has been shown that
Evidence Based Practice is associated with improved health outcome of the patients and
increased patient’s overall satisfaction. The article has shown evidences that proves Evidence
Based Practice has improved quality in care and therefore it is needed by all the healthcare
professionals to implement it. They should be able to utilize the information and data
collected by analysing evidences from previous records of the patients and create a graph
based on that, which will not only help in understanding the best treatment procedures based
on empirical data, but also, will increase the probability of an improved health outcome of the
patients.
According to the article proposed by Kamlesh Bhargava (2019) the Evidence Based
Practice should incorporate best research evidences, clinical expertise, and knowledge and
consider the patient’s values, preferences and circumstances which includes social and
cultural factors in addition to the individual’s ideas and expectation. Good history taking,
years of experiences and physical examination contributes to clinical expertise. In order to
incorporate Evidence Based Practice in the treatment strategies, the health professionals must

health outcome. In order to implement Evidence Based Practice several strategies are needed
to be considered. Moreover, there are different approaches to implement Evidence Based
Practice since a strategy that has worked in one setting may not work effectively in other
settings. Therefore, it is important to understand and suggest several context variables in the
implementation of Evidence Based Practice (Titler 2019).

Practice competencies foe Registered Nurses and APNs used in healthcare organizations in
order to achieve an improved and consistent performance and maintain the use of Evidence
Based Practice. It has been shown that Evidence Based Practice enhances quality care by
promoting health outcome of the patients and becoming cost effective. The article talks about
several steps to implement Evidence Based Practice that includes PICO question (Purpose,
Intervention, comparison and outcome), Searching for best evidences, critically appraising
the evidences, assimilating the evidences with clinical expertise to make the best use out of it
to promote an improved health outcome, Evaluating the outcomes of the evidences and
propagating the outcomes (Melnyk et al. 2014).

evidence-based practice in health care which includes the formation of a medical question,

the most effective evidence, the fourth is the merging of the evidence with the experience of
the clinical professionals and, the patient's health condition, resources which are available and
the preferences of the patients and values leading to coming to the final health care decision;

determination of the practice changes (Beckmann and Lew 2016). The benefits of the

care and service delivery it is important to address the needs and requirements of an
individual. When there in lack of communication and the settings do not use evidence based

Objective:
The main objective is to understand the use of evidence based practice and
communication in clinical setting and also the use of literature reviews to restore the issues
that has been creating difficulties in care delivery process.
Action plan:
The action plan that needs to be addressed it to provide the information and
understanding to the professionals as wells the other staffs regarding the need and
