Present trend of social media in family owned restaurants
Restaurants in UK have tendency to use social media while producing their products and service among targeted customers. For instance, restaurants
are launching mobile application so that targeted customers can use their service as per their own convenience. As asserted by Moreno-Munoz et al.,
(2016), family restaurants refrain from using social media because of their technological glitches. Moreover, installation of social media involves huge
cost. Thus, overall expenditure of the organisation might get affected. As opinion of Aronoff and Ward (2017), family business is considered as a
traditional way of contributing to business activities. Therefore, it is stated that family owned restaurants need to use social media so that their service
can be expanded in global market.
In UK, a survey has been conducted among the family business members so that impact of technology can be analysed. In addition to that, 64% of
respondents have stated that digitalisation is considered as the topmost concern of family business (assets.kpmg, 2019). However, 54% of respondents
have mentioned that implementation of digitalisation increases overall expenditure of the organisation (assets.kpmg, 2019).

Implementation of Swiss cheese Model
As per the literary underpinnings of Dyer (2018), Swiss cheese model helps to analyse the impact of social media within an organisation. By
implementing Swiss cheese, model issues of social media can be mitigated within the organisation. However, as per the model, after implementing
social media an organisation may face technological lack backs because of in effective communication between the employees and management, in
effective training. Lastly, it is suggested that management of organisations need to train them so that all can use social media effectively for the
wellbeing of the organisation (Stein and Heiss, 2015).

Advantages and disadvantages of social media
Business expansion
As per the comment of Aronoff and ward (2016), digitalisation is considered as the megatrend of family business because it helps to expand business
activities in social media. In UK, family restaurants have a tendency to use social media while promoting their service. However, 25% of family run
business thinks that they do not need to implement social media within the organisation. In addition to that, 27% of organisational members have
mentioned that they are planning to implement social media in their respective restaurant (assets.kpmg, 2019). Lastly, 48% of family members have
stated that they have implemented social media successfully to earn more profit (assets.kpmg, 2019).

Methodology
Methodology is a systematic analysis of methods that are being implemented within the study so that they can be driven in a right track ( research-
methodology.net, 2019). In this study, the researcher can use positivism philosophy, deductive approach and descriptive design. This study will adhere
to positivism philosophy because it is based on facts and observation. At the time of conducting positivism philosophy, the role of the researcher used
to collect the data through survey and interview (research-methodology.net, 2019).
Further, the researcher will include deductive approach because it is based on existing theories used in the literature review section. In the study
researcher will accumulate data through survey and interview (research-methodology.net, 2019). Thus, descriptive design will be used.
Data collection is a technique of collecting information from relevant sources so that research problem can be solved. Data collection process is being
divided into two categories such as primary method of data collection and secondary method of data collection (research-methodology.net, 2019). In
present study researcher will include both the process by collecting data from articles, survey and interview. Open-ended questionnaire will be set to
conduct the process of interview and close- ended questionnaires will be framed while implementing survey so that respondents can answer to the
point.
In this study probability, sampling will be used so that equal scope is being provided to all respondents. However, purposive sampling will also be
indulged in the study for conducting interview. The chosen sampling size is 51 employees of family restaurants and two board members. Thus, in this
study quantitative, qualitative and secondary analysis will be conducted.
