Abstract
In today’s times, every single person uses social media like Facebook, Instagram, MySpace, and
Twitter to communicate with friends and family. Social media impact negatively on the life of
adolescence because they feel need to act on social media always. For communication, social
media is a great platform which is highly preferred by adolescence to chat with friends and to be
touch with them for a long time. It is highly important to educate adolescence about the impact
of social media on their life and growth. If they spend more and more time on social media then
their education will get affected negatively. It is a major responsibility of parents and teacher to
focus on their children and adolescence’s phones to ensure no dangers can arise. This report
literature review which is based on the impact of social media on adolescence through which so
many facts and factors can be identified as gaining more knowledge about the topic. Apart from
this current practice has been examined in which various issues and the problem of social media
on the life of adolescence has been discussed. Also, there is a comparison between current
practice and literature reviews. In the end, several findings have been identifying related to the
selected study which is helpful in gaining lots of new knowledge and information.

Social media becomes most important part of children and adolescence’s life from electronic
mails, shopping, business tool, and education. With the help of social media, people transform
their lifestyle. There are so many social blogs and networking sites which include in social media
that is used by adolescence to connect with each other. Nowadays adolescence uses social media
like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and others as a key element for journalists, news and latest
information. There is both positive as well as negative impact of social media on adolescence life

The impact of social media on adolescence
In the view of Siddiqui & Singh, (2016), adolescence use social media such as Facebook,
Instagram, Google, Twitter, and others to stay connected with their friends and share their photos
with them. It is the best platform which provides huge opportunity to share creativity,
community events and develop a unique identity. According to the survey, 90% of Australian
teens have used social media on a regular basis that impacts their schedule and education. They
visit their social media for so many times in a day as it becomes an important part of their life.
Parents, teachers, and community must analyze the deep impact of social media on teen’s lives
and ensure that their children are safe. Teenager spends their whole day by using social media at
their figure tips (Siddiqui & Singh, 2016). Social networking sites affect their emotional as well
as social lives so it is important to educate them to enhance their knowledge related to the impact
of social media on their lives.

As per thought of Kim, (2017), Adolescence is not aware of the impact of social networking and
shares their personal information, photos, location on social media due to which so many issues
arise in their life. 13 to 17 years olds have used several social networking sites and visit server
times in a day to check updates. It wastes their time and affects time schedule of education so it
is necessary for them to avoid the use of social networking sites. There is so many adolescences
thinks that using social media make them feel depressed that impact negatively on their mind.
According to the survey, 10% teens are depressed or sad and aren’t happy with using social
media that makes them feel alone. With the help of social networking sites, adolescence
maintains their relationship with friends, family, and parents effectively whereas more than 4%
teens say that social media mainly hurt their relationship (Kim, 2017). It is the essential duty of
management of school and college to educate teens about the social media so that they spend less
time on social networking sites. Many teens start talking to strangers on social media that can
impact negatively on their lives and can build any kind of dangers situation. In Australia, there
are so many cases of adolescence that get affected by social media and face so many troubles in
their lives.
Social media’s effect on education
According to O'Keeffe & Clarke-Pearson, (2011), Adolescence cannot imagine their life without
using social media because they visit social networking sites several times in a day. Electronic
gadget becomes most important part of their life. Social media impact negative on education and
academic performance of adolescence due to which they face various problems like low self-
esteem, depression, anxiety, and sadness. Adolescence becomes addicted to social media as they
use Facebook, Google, Twitter and Instagram in exam time also that influence their performance
and marks. The flow of education adolescence gets affected if they are active on social media in
exam times. There are many photos and posts are shared by their friends and peer group that
impact the situation of their mind. Teens are addicted to phones and social media which I biggest
issue of society as it directly impacts on mental health (O'Keeffe & Clarke-Pearson, 2011). There
are so many sites as per shown in the image like Facebook, YouTube, Blogger, Wikipedia, and
many more which is highly preferred by the teenagers for access the knowledge and to make

connections with their friends and family. According to the survey, Facebook is most famous and
effective communication channel in which billion of peoples are connected and have their
accounts. There are more than 90% of teenagers of Australian have their account on social sites
who give most of their times to social media.

adolescence related to the social media so that they can easily use social networking sites without
facing any kind of problem. Adolescence thinks that social media is the safest place to share their
thoughts and feeling with their social networking friends that is why they spend lots of time on

Adolescence is most prolific users of social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google
and others that impact both positive as well as negatively on their lives. They spend most of the
time on social networking sites which affect their other activities. According to teenagers, social
networking sites are great communication platform through which they can make a closer
relationship with their friends and family. In Australia, more than 90% adolescence use social
media and spent most of the time on Facebook and Twitter that build 2.6 times risk in their lives
(Swist, et. al., 2015). There are so many problems faces by teenagers if they have internet
addicted like face problem in developing and depression. 13 to 188 years show their high interest
on social media which decrease their communications skills because they interact with people on
the text.
There are so many positive sides of social media on lives of adolescence like they improve social
skills and improve knowledge through news feed that provides the latest information so fast. If
adolescence has lack of information about social media then they can face so many problems like
cyberbullying, fishing etc. Nowadays so many events, programs, and sessions are organized by
cybercrime team and government to increase awareness among adolescence and children so that
they do not face any kind of problem while using different social sites like Twitter, Facebook,
Google and others (Lenhart, et. al., 2010). It is the best medium of happiness adolescence learns
lots of new things and grabs several growth opportunities through social networking sites. If any
adolescence has unique talent and skill then they can share on social media that makes them
famous worldwide. It is the current trend in teenagers they make their video and show creativity
through different channels. Many times it affects negatively on lives of adolescence so it is
important for them to share right things at the right place.
Parents are so worried about their children because they spend most of the time on interest while
accessing the social networking sites which directly impact negatively on their academic
performance. They do not stop the use of social media on exam times which are the biggest issue
in today’s times (Vasanth & Swamy, 2013). After coming from school Adolescence spent their
times on social media and on the bed which affects their health and mental. In modern life
technology play, very important children and adolescence do not think their selves without social
