better opportunities for both men and women. Government authorities has analysed the gap
between men and women and implemented few standards. It has influenced the perception of
society and increased the ratio of women over men (Beere and King, 2010). In earlier days the
women were lacking due to educational status but nowadays the ratio of women among
graduates is high. It has also created better opportunities for women in the society. There are
number of other supportive policies has been designed by the authorities to make sure that
women are feeling empowered (Krotkiewski and Smith, 2013). Companies are also focused
towards sustainable change in organisational policies as per government norms so that equal
opportunities can be provided to men and women in the UK. However, still there are few
professionals that percept negative in respect to the concern topic. Generation gap is also
decreasing that also enhances the opportunities for women in the UK (Tannen, 2011).
It has been noticed that the businesses are also offering equal pay to women if they are
having same efforts as compared to other members in the organisation. In addition to this, it can
be stated that the perception of men towards women has also changed in recent years that has
also impacted the social aspects and created better opportunities for the women at workplace
(Goldberg, 2008). Government of UK has also organised number of plans and activities that can
promote women empowerment and ensure that the equal opportunities are being provided to
both genders. While women have made substantial gains in the workplace in recent decades,
there is clear evidence that women remain under-represented at the top levels of organisations in
UK (Pietilä and Vickers, 2010). It has also been identified that the women are currently holding
4.5 percent in fortune 1000 CEO's. It also indicates that the businesses are having sustainable
development by providing better opportunities to women.
