Background of research
Digital technology and social media has created a great impact on various business
operations. It has made it easy for any business to manage and monitor the overall operations and
functions. On the other hand, the use of social media has allowed business to promote their
products and services at global level (Reich, Gemino and Sauer, 2014) Due to this, business is
able to generate large amount of revenue. Besides this, social media has provided people to have
a greater access of information related to products. They can easily search for a product anytime,
anywhere. Moreover, the advancements in internet and technology have allowed business to
expand their operations in different markets. Furthermore, it has helped in enhancing the
efficiency of operations in various departments such as finance, human resource, etc. the channel
of distribution has expanded and customers are getting timely delivery of products. The major
advantage internet has given to business is advertising their products and services.
Rationale of research
The main purpose of conducting this research is to analyse the impact of social media in
marketing and promoting of products. It has enabled Morrisons to develop systems and
applications through which their products can be advertised. Besides this, research will assist
Morrisons to implement information technology infrastructure in order to maintain customer data
and information. With this, an organisation can easily develop effective marketing strategies.
This research will help in improving the product quality so that more people can be attracted.
Moreover, research will help in developing systems to monitor marketing strategies so that
measures can be taken to improve them. It will help in achieving goals and objectives in
effective manner.

time frame (Reynolds and Yetton, 2015). The following are some elements of management
plan:-
Cost - the research will include cost that has to be incurring to achieve aims and objectives. It is
necessary to find out cost of each activity so that it can be performed in effective way. In
addition, identifying cost helps in providing resources accordingly. With this, it becomes easy to
collect primary data by using different methods. By this relevant information can collect.
Risk – Risk is involved with every research. It is an element that must be considered so that time
and cost can be maintained. These two elements can affect research aims and objectives to a
