Newspaper is a major source of information which provides different kind of
information to an individual in relation to the topic or the information they are seeking for it.n
In the current time newspaper act as a biggest information source for the current world. In
context of the present as it is based on the comparison and contrasting between the two
newspaper articles. The first article headed as “social media and adolescence’ and the young
adults mental health". Along with this, the second article headed as "six ways social media
negatively affect your mental health". This compares and contrasts between similarity and
differences of this newspaper are clearly based on identifying the best newspaper.
Where it is discussed about the similarity within the newspaper it is identified that
both of these article consists discussion on the same fact. The fact is related to the impact of
social media on the mental health of individuals. The both of the article have a significant and
essential discussion about the impact of social media on the mental health. This is the basic
similarity in the format of both these articles and the newspaper. One more similarity which
can be seen within the article is related to the writing style where there is no image involved
within the article. This is one of the common similarity which can be seen within different
newspapers where the try to reduce the number of images in order to reduce the cost of the
newspaper and low use of ink. One more reason behind using this style by both the
newspaper is related to saving the ink as using and printing image will include use of
coloured ink which can increase the cost of newspaper.
After the similarity aspect there are large number of differences and contrast between
both of these newspaper articles. In these newspapers the first article consist more numerical
facts and figures in comparison to the second article. This clearly shows that the newspaper
uses different factors and figures in order to provide the analysis of the data and help in
understanding in more depth. This also states that writers of the article use that analysis of
particular topic in order to ascertain the appropriate result and provide accurate information
to the readers. On the other side, the article 2 consist only little amount of numerical fact
which clearly show that it is written in journal manner where are the writing style adopted by
the writer is to provide the journal information about the impact on the mental health of
individual because of social media.
It can also reviewed that in article 1 there is more use of bullet points which is helpful
and attractive way to provide information about a particular topic. On the other side, it is
identified that in article 2 there is no use of bullet point for any heading subheading which
directly show the poor writing style at improper attraction. This is a major difference in
newspaper where one newspaper is using an appropriate bullet points good writing style
where the other is not. Along with this there is also and difference which is related to
providing the references for the project. In context to the article 1 of newspaper 1 there is use
of appropriate references which help in identifying the source of the information gathered
along with this they also use an appropriate bibliography style in order to provide citation to
each and every line and Para which is used to provide information about the topic. In context

to the article 2, there is no use of such references and in text citations in order to provide
information of all the data collected. There is also a proper management of in text citations
where it is difficult for the reader to identify the sources of each and every data which is
provided by the individual in form of information about the related topic.
The major quality of a newspaper is dependent on the use of heading. Heading is a
best part of a newspaper article which help in identifying the quality of the content as well as
the mental ability and the motive of communicating the particular topic or article. In context
of article 18 is identified that the use of heading is little bit confusing for the reader. There is
no clear heading of the topic which clearly states that writer is unable to provide adequate
information and insight about the topic to the reader. On the other had in context of article
number 2 it is identified that the writer is using an appropriate heading with simple format.
The simple heading directly lead to providing insight about the information which our writer
want to convey to the reader. In context of this article it include appropriate heading which
clearly show the message related to the six factors that are contributing to problem in mental
health related to social media in an individual. This is a direct message which help in clearing
the mind-set of the reader and provide the insight about what will be discussed in that article.
In last, what are the major factor which acted as a a part of contrast between both the
newspaper article is related to use of table. The article 1 consist and appropriate table which
is helpful in identifying the data where the other article lacks of it. A table is useful for the
reader to understand the information in numerical way and identify the appropriate an exact
results. This can be reviewed from the above discussion that both newspaper have contrasting
and different content where some extent of similarities also present there. This clearly shows
that article 1 is much better in comparison to the article 2 where there is use of facts and
figures as well as appropriate writing style in order to influence the decision of the reader and
provide them understanding about the topic for their own welfare.
