1SOCIAL CHANGE AND CHALLENGES
Social change refers to an alteration of the social order that is maintained within a given
society. The changes in the society at times pose major challenges to the operations within the
given society. The following paper aims a discussion on three social changes that have been
affecting the modern society.
The increase in the social media trends are observed to impact the lives of the common
people who have been active over the various social media platforms. The multitude of
organizations that have been operating all over the world tend to advertise their products over the
various social media platforms within the organization (Jung, 2017). The major challenge faced
by the companies related to the resources within the concerned industry. The companies
generally complain regarding the lack of the skilled labor within the concerned industry (Ruths
& Pfeffer, 2014). The other challenges that are faced by the concerned organization deal with the
improper use of the various acronyms and slangs that are popular over the social media. This
leads to the misinterpretation of the message that is being conveyed and thereby affects the
company in a negative manner.
The other factor that might pose to be a challenge in the social changes refer to the
bullying that is faced by the users over the social media. Bullying over the social media refers to
the intimidation of the concerned person over the various social media platforms wherein the
person has been active (Whittaker & Kowalski, 2015). The bullying over the social media, better
known as cyberbullying has emerged as one of the major challenges that are faced by the
residents of the society in the modern times. The bullying over the social media has been taking
place in the various forms and leads to the development of a mental trauma among the various
members of the society (Gearhart & Zhang, 2014). The other major disadvantage of the bullying
is the fact that it leads to depression among the concerned members of the society. The

depression of the residents of the society tends to lead to the disruption of the social harmony
thereby leading to major consequences.
The issue of mental health is another raging issue in the present-day scenario. The
residents of the present-day society are observed to be facing challenges regarding the mental
health issues. The mental health issues are seen to be on the rise due to the increase of stress in
the lives of the people serving the multitude of organizations operative within the world (Rogers
& Pilgrim, 2014). The major challenges that are faced in relation to the mental issues are the
eradication of the social stigma and the ignorance on the mental issues that are faced by the
residents of the society at large (Corrigan, Druss & Perlick, 2014). The concerned people
affected by the mental issues are known to be on the receiving end of ignorance and social
stigma from the fellow residents.
Thus, from the above discussion it might be deduced that the advertisement over social
media, bullying over the social media and the mental health issues pose to be major challenges in
the modern society.
