The problem related to social media growth has been identified which is concerned with
computing and internet and which has impact on the significant population (around billion).
At present, the use of social media has gone rampant and one can find millions of people using
the online social media pages to connect with their friends, colleagues, families, and others. The
growth of social has reached to a stage where one cannot imagine a world without this element.
There are numerous benefits associated with the social media. Some of them can be allowing the
individuals connect with each other virtually and build a network of friends (even from overseas)
that could not have been thought of two decades before.
However, despite these benefits, there are some major issues that are impacting the significant
population. Most of the population is getting less productive as they are engaging in social media
activities that are time consuming. Moreover, there is emergence of unsocial individuals who
connect with users just to send derogatory messages and drain them mentally.
The target users that is being discussed here are the pre-teens, and teenagers are in their growth
phase and are not aware enough about how world works. They openly connect with unknown
individuals and engage in unending discussions that are time consuming for them. Moreover, the
pre-teens and teenagers are missing the real life as they are submerging themselves in the virtual
world. The lack of physical activities can be seen rampant which is impacting their healthy.
Unhealthy and bad eating habits are impacting their physique. They are unnecessarily getting
obese. The problem does not end here as list is endless. The problem associated with the
unrestrained use of social media is numerous.
Some of the issues teenagers are facing due to the excessive use of the social media (a virtual and
almost an alternative world on internet) are mentioned below in points:
- Reduction in the time spent on study which results in poor grade in schools and colleges
- Unnecessary verbal quarrel with the unknown online individuals
- Interaction with online strangers leading to stress that could not have been there in the
absence of social media use
- Minimum to zero amount of physical activity resulting in degradation in health which
reduces the life expectancy
- Reduced physical activity impacting the mental and physical well-being
- It impacts the behavior of the teenagers and which disturbs their relationship with their
families and friends in the real life.
The problem of social media growth is directly connected with the internet because the social
media is accessed through internet which shows that both are connected with each other.

increase the time for physical activities which improves the health of teenagers. The solution is
time management which address the solving of issues which are arises by accessing the internet.
The internet helps to show the previous and current details which helps to manage the time and
solve the issues facing by teenagers such as health issues, poor academic issues and others. The
time management helps to solve all the issues facing by teenagers. For example the time
management helps to devote the time on every individual activity which is necessary for
teenagers such as physical activity which helps to maintain the health of teenagers. The teenagers
can socially interact with the people and make time for understanding cultural importance. It also
helps to make low expenses by using the internet which is economically beneficial. There is no
harmful effect of time management it only helps to manage all the activities of day to day life in
a most efficient and effective manner. Time management is not easy to manage it need more
concentration and dedication for coordinating all the activities in a synchronized manner. The
development of solution is contributed by the people through applying the time management in
regular routine of individual life which helps to solve the issues in life of every individual.
One of the effective solutions apart from those that are mentioned above can be the
implementation of parental controls on all the devices that are operated by the pre-teens and
teenagers. There are plenty of applications available in the market that can be used to track the
activities of the teenagers and keep on the right path. The applications can be installed on the
users’ phone. Moreover, the parents can also put parental locks on the laptops to ensure that their
children are using the internet in a limited manner.
The solutions provided have some shortcomings also. Due to the easiest accessibility of the
internet, the parents are finding it difficult to constant track their children’s activity even after the
installation of applications. In such extreme situations, a proper traditional guidance can only
come to rescue.
There are certain cyber risks that are also associated with the access of the internet and social
media by the pre-teens and teenagers. One can find numerous examples where the children share
information to the online strangers which should have been kept secret. This disclosure of
sensitive information allows the strangers to take wrong benefits. Moreover, the pre-teens and
teenagers are not too aware about the online security and the way internet should be accessed.
This allows the unethical elements of the society gain unwanted access to the users’ personal
information which is utilized for benefits in later stage.
In the end, it can be stated that the use of the internet by the pre-teens and the teenagers should
be constantly monitored by the parents through available mobile applications, windows parental
controls, and traditional guidance.
