Introduction
Prior of writing assignment 1 and assignment 2, I had to attend a 12 week learning course
for learning research practice. The rationale of the learning program was to aid me to write my
literature review and organize my research proposal on the topic of “advantage and disadvantage
of social networks in business”. It has been great experience in my life to pursue the learning
experience of 12 weeks. Such learning experience can be highly essential for developing my
personal life as well as career life. In this reflective journal, I will elucidate my whole learning
experience all through the 12 week learning course in weekly manner.
Week 1
In this week, I learned several strategies and process of preparing business research. In
this week, I learnt the common principles of conducting business research. These research
principles are applicable to prepare any kind of business research. Most interestingly, I learned
the difference between business research and academic research. From my opinion, this learning
experience can be highly supportive to prepare any type of business research in precise format.
Apart from that, the learning experience can be highly important to enhance my overall
knowledge about business area and research area.
Week 2
My week 2 learning was about designing and planning of business research. In this week,
I understood that research design is different from research method in regards to their
functioning. In this week, I came to know about the concept like experimental, cross-sectional,
longitudinal, case study and comparative research, which are quite essential for completing a

successful business research. From my perspective, such learning experience can help me a lot to
design a business research in perfect manner in my future academic life. The learning of social
networking in business can help me in implementing social networks in business organizations
where I might work in my future career. I have gained huge insights in the business progress
scope through the implementation process of social networks in business.
Week 3
The third week was associated with writing and reviewing the business research. In this
week, I learned that completion of successful business research needs a proper understanding of
reviewing the main ideas behind the research topic. It was evident that I have to be extremely
clear to structure the business research properly. I realized the significance of social values for
completing the business research successfully. Therefore I can say that search learning
experience would be highly important for enhancing my social values through a greater
understanding of social life and personal values. It would also enhance my interaction skills with
my surrounding people though a greater understanding of social values.
Week 4
My 4th week learning program was linked to the understanding of ethical principles in
terms of research study towards sustaining the ethical values all through preparing the business
research. The learning course taught me the core ethical codes and guidelines for the professional
association. Such ethical principal can help me to comply with all the ethical compliances during
conducting research. Moreover, the learning of ethical principles would definitely help me to
maintain ethics in my personal life and also in my professional life. It would be quite easier for
me choose between the right and wrong things in my personal and professional life.

Week 5
In 5th week, I studied the details about the qualitative research process. In this week, I
learned that qualitative research is mostly dependent on visual materials in terms of collecting
accurate research data. This research is entirely different from quantitative research. The
qualitative research is generally dependent on open ended questions to assemble the necessary
research data. In this week, I studied different kind of lecture slides for having a great
understanding about my research topic. Apart from that, I also watched different videos on
YouTube for having an in-depth perceptive about research topic from the scholars uploaded by
the renowned research scholars. Such in-depth information collected from highly informative
scholars has enhanced my insights about the research process and business opportunities.
Week 6
My learning course in 6th week was related to the understanding of interview method
necessary for conducting qualitative research. I came to know that qualitative interview needs
random sampling process to assemble accurate information, which is white flexible and reliable.
On the other hand, I faced huge complexity to learn the facts of focus group research. After
reviewing several lecture slides and studying different learning contents on the website, I decided
that interview method is much flexible then focus group research. In this way, I decided to
choose interview method to collect descriptive qualitative data regarding my research topic.
Week 7
In 7th week, I studied all the details regarding qualitative data analysis process. It was
something like analyzing the descriptive data collected from the selected research respondents.
Most fascinatingly, I learned the codified norms for guiding the qualitative data analysis process.

In this week, it was discussed that secondary data analysis is quite prominent to extract the right
meaning of qualitative data. From my business research, I got clear idea about the analysis of
qualitative data. Hence, I can say that my business research has provided me practical experience
to conduct research in accurate manner.
Week 8
In this week, I learned regarding the sampling of quantitative research. I understood that
the measurement process related to quantitative research indicates the search indicators. Apart
from that, the learning process taught me several types of sampling methods and their association
with business research. I realized that probability sampling provides much more accurate and
biasfree quantitative data to reach at accurate research result. While considering my business
research, I selected accurate sampling technique and adequate sample size for collecting detailed
quantitative data. Hence, it is clear that my business research was truly intended to provide me
hands on experience to conduct business research in successful manner. It connected my
theoretical understanding about business research with practical understanding for better
implementing research studies.
Week 9
In 9th week, I studied and understood the importance of structured interview towards
asking interview question to the selected respondents of research in a standard manner.
Furthermore, in this week, I learned the effective ways of framing self completion
questionnaires, which is almost same to the structured interview. Throughout the completion of
my assignment 1, I gathered detailed information regarding my business research topic. In this
way, the opportunities and scopes identified in literature review provided me the ways of

designing self completion questionnaires to assemble quantitative research information. It gave
the overall direction to conduct business research in right direction leading to authentic research
outcome.
Week 10
In 10th week, I came to know about the alternative way of survey based measurement,
which is similar like structure observation method for the assessment of collected data. This
method is actually incorporated with recording of behavior and precise rules of the respondents
selected in the research process. In this week, I also learned the traditional content analysis in
regards to analyze qualitative data. In this context, the research questions must be transparent
enough for the great understanding of research participants. While preparing assignment 2, I
chose exact methods of gathering most precise research information for reaching at authentic
research result.
Week 11
In this week, I understood the significance of secondary analysis for completing business
research in successful manner. Secondary data analysis is always associated with high volume
data and high quality data. Although, I understood several advantages related with secondary
data analysis. Apart from that, I realize that the official statistics associated with secondary data
is less likely to generate errors in research result. In this way, I become aware of two kinds of
data analysis, which are like qualitative and quantitative analysis. The learning experience would
be extremely essential for completing my business research in successful manner.

Week 12
In 12th week, I studied the rising implication of mixed method research to prepare
business research. I also studied the limitations associated with mixed method which are like
ontological impediments and epistemological impediments. Such learning experience in terms of
qualitative research and quantitative research would be highly essential for me to conduct any
kind of business research in my future career. Apart from that, I faced several challenges and
difficulties throughout conducting my business research. In this way, I learned to deal with
several challenges and difficulties for overcoming them. Hence, I can say that the learning
experience has taught me to deal with different types of challenges and difficulties in my
personal life as well as career life
Conclusion
While concluding my reflective journal, I can say that the 12 week learning experience
was extremely essential for my career life and my personal life. The learning experience has
effectively fulfilled its rationale of facilitating me in preparing my assignment 1 and assignment
2. I perfectly understood the “importance of social networks for the development of business”. In
this way, it enhanced my entrepreneurial skills for developing my career life. I faced several
challenges in conducting the research towards its successful completion. In this way, I have
learned to deal with the challenges in my personal life and professional life.
