Discussion
Part I.
Matching skills to future job and organization
I have applied for this post through the job-vacancy advertisement available in a local
newspaper featuring the job role of a health service manager in the non-profit organization,
Abbey Field Society. This organization is seeking a full-time management position that has
the knowledge of assistance and charity management to help the volunteer team and assist in
the process to reach the health aids to the poverty-ridden children in the rural areas of the
local regions. The reason why I am interested in this social profile is to apply his teamwork
and management skills with respect to the charity work in the non-profit organization. I have
acquired the relevant skills required during his life experiences which make him move
forward. Another important reason to apply for such role is to perform his moral duty towards
the nation being a citizen where I consider this health service duty in the public as an ethical
duty rather than the long duty hours with a minimum compensation package as per my skills
in the field.
The skills which I have for this job role are:
1. Communication
2. Team work
3. Problem-solving
4. Flexibility
5. Organization
6. Time management

2WORKING IN SOCIAL POLICY
The necessary knowledge required for this job role is the public health laws and
regulations of the region as well as the nation. The various health policies and the current
health news are also necessary for the volunteers to update themselves. The qualifications
required in this post are minimum graduation in any field which will make the person
competent enough to acquire the management work. The master’s degree is not compulsory.
Any eligible graduate in the social science field will fit as a better candidate. The additional
knowledge required is the medical skills. A doctoral degree would be best for the application
of spreading health awareness among the public and the patients in hospital-visits. I lack the
medical knowledge but however he has good organizational skills and has the basic
educational knowledge in terms of health.
My relevant experience
The work experience I possess for fitting in this job role is working as the health-care
assistant for part-time in a small medium-sized health company. Clark Health
Communications Ltd. In the company my job responsibilities included being the assistant to
the heads of the team working with the infants, old patients in providing delivery of nursing
service. The primary duties included serving lunch and dinner meals to the patients in the
hospital. Supervising the work of junior interns in the hospital assistance and taking care of
the patients in collection of bad and urine samples as well as monitoring the condition of
patients. Secondary duties included making beds of the patients and giving them company
over the time through conversations and spending time with them. The emergency
responsibilities included the sterilization of equipments like needles, the oxygen bottles and
the surgical tools. The transportation of the blood samples from the hospital laboratory to the
other hospital branches in the region were carried out by me. Helping the patients and seeing
them recover with the happy smiles in the faces of the families used to give the peaceful
feeling at the end of the day. The social service duty as the health care assistant in the
hospital made me a more responsible person towards my duty of taking care of the people.
The duty requires immense motivation and flexibility to adopt oneself to emergency
requirements. This experience I believe will help me in my post as the volunteer to assist the
teams in the organization, Daffodils to contribute in their services to clients. This type of care
and role delivery requires the values of compassion and empathy from oneself to devote to
the duty. This kind of job role and the job experience makes me emotionally attached to the
patients through building a good relationship with them and build my people-skills.

3WORKING IN SOCIAL POLICY
Part II.
The main limitations of this role of being a volunteer in the non-profit organization to
carry are the corruption in the internal structure of the organization where half of the
resources are not properly utilized. The staff members often hoard the charity items to be
delivered in the next season. This type of redundancies can be changed through more
transparency and auditing of the inventory in the organization. There should be monitoring of
the volunteer work. Another limitation of this job role is often the less career growth
opportunities in the career ladder. The salary also comes in a minimum package. The work
duties as per their quality and quantity are not equally fallen into the compensation metrics.
In case of a non-profit organization, the compensation structure should be a flexible and
revised approach with merit scale payment and incentives attached for better performance
awards. The incentive structure in this organization should be more of non-financial form like
pat on the back, volunteer of the month and the best-health care taker award schemes to
praise the efforts of the employees. The biasness and the irregularity of the funds should be
mitigated. The non-profit organization should allocate the duties in a more adaptive way with
using job-rotation as a technique when labor turnover is at its peak. As per the annual report
on 2017-18, the turnover increased to 5% which is a crucial point to focus on. Although the
fund allocation and the turnover of the organization is good yet the gap between the finance
flow and meeting the requirements of the client fund-raisers is little bit high. The
organization is required to focus on the recruitment of female staff more to bring gender
diversity in the workplace culture. The annual report data for the past five years show that the
majority of the staff in the organization is the male. The ratio of female staff is very less due
to which more recruitment sources through advertisements and newspapers in various
hospitals can be taken as a good method to increase the labor. For the effective change
management, the transformative change in the organization with the good leadership across
the department can help in bridging the gap.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I want to work as health service manager in Abbey Field Society,
which is a non-profit organization in the health service sector to assist in the charity work. I
have got the communication and teamwork skills from my work experience in Clark Health
Communications Ltd. by working with patients. The role make me develop my personality to
work in this non-profit organization with more enhanced abilities to take care of the
management abilities and with better health care service knowledge through practical
