INTRODUCTION
A social policy is that kind of policy which has been there with the government or
political setting. These policies are those kind of policies which are useful to perform welfare
activity within an country to take care of people living in it. These policies can also be related to
study of social services given by government. Also such policies can be effective in changing
well being of members of society through giving access towards goods and services provided by
government in that society. In these essay things that is going to be covered is definition of social
policy, role of social policy within early year’s provision and conform to social policy. Further a
policy of safeguard is going to be taken and its evaluation is going to be done with various
aspects related to this policy is going to be covered.

Definition of social policy
Social policies are those types of policies which help in protecting of people living in
society. These policies can be related to various aspects present in society. Such aspect can be of
criminal, civil, family and gender related issues. To solve these issues only policies of social
nature is formed. Also such policies have helped in doing welfare of society by improving
condition of education, poverty and also helped in balancing of situation of unemployment. In
other words this can be understood as that kind of policies that is generally under government
and is formed by them to moderate issues emerging as problem in doing welfare towards society.
It can be defined as actions that have direct impact over well-being within a society by
distribution and shaping of access over goods and services in that society. These policies are very
important because of there capacity to deal with problems occurring in a particular society.
Social policies is concerned with ways of improving society and working over its welfare
(Douglas-Osborn, 2017).

Role of social policy is that it is concerned with ways in which needs of humans are
fulfilled across the world for security, education, work, health and wellbeing. These policies also
address responses made by an society or a country towards global challenges faced by them.
These challenges includes social, demographic, economic change, poverty, migration and
globalization. These policies are important because members of society has certain needs which
has to be satisfied with social security, health care, education and through services. Main aim of
these policies is to make sure that welfare of individual is done by making effective and strong
legislations for it. Social policies are affected by social developments and change is brought in
upon the basis of individuals needs. All social policies are based over individuals and their
behaviour in society because these policies are directly or indirectly related to society and people
living in it. These policies are also responsible for maintaining of balance in a society.
Social policies in early years means that development that has taken place in the policies during a
particular period of time and these policies has seen development from time to time in the form
of income maintenance, social security, health policies, services, personal services, education
and training policies, employment policies has been formed for particular development that is
important for early years. Major needs that come out is of policies related to child. These policies
are formed to take out those plans and strategies which are important for stopping of crime
against children and making them realise there value in society (Norberg, 2018).

The historical background of social policies is parallel to important events that have taken
place in human history. This is an important cornerstone of world history, industrial revolution
and economic revolution over one side. This has increased social problems also. It is true to say
that social policies has provided solutions for lot of problems related society. Changes has been
done as per time within the policies for smoothly achieving of goal of welfare of a state. Also
traditional methods used to satisfy human needs were used earlier which were time consuming.
Later on these were replaced by policies of social nature. Report of beveridge is an important
report which aims at providing a comprehensive system of social insurance. It has also proposed
all working of people that should pay a weekly contribution to the state. In return this fund is
going to be spend over solving of social issues like unemployment, sickness and for a widow etc.
This report was presented on 1st December 1942 when there was a war time coalition
government and published this report entitle ‘Social insurance and allied Services’. This report is
written by William Beveridge (Hayes. and et. al., 2017).

specially children because crime related to them were increasing at that time. These safeguards
are alo known as child protection policy statement and make it clear taht child safety is there fisrt
priority. Certain principals are there which has helped in formation of these policies that are
reducing crime against children, taking care of there welfare and giving them healthy
environment to live (Van der Have. and Rubalcaba, 2016).
Impact of EY settings on these policies
EY child protection act has been formed to protect children and vulnerable adults who are
receiving services of EY. Also the purpose of these policies is to provide staff, trustee.
Volunteers and party suppliers with overarching principals that guide approach to protection of
children. EY settings means those principals which have helped in formation of these policies
and they are Children act 1989, Data protection act 1998, Sexual offences act 2003 and children
act 2004. All these provisions are taken into consideration for forming of these policies. Also
these settings has given base for formation of policies. Such impact has lead towards making of
basic principles like welfare of children and making them look forward toward education, skill
development. This has also taught them the meaning of equality. Also there quality of
vulnerability has been kept in mind and making them mentally fit is also marked under it.
Evaluation of Social safeguard policies
As it has been seen that various types of problem has been arising in UK from a very long time.
People has been facing lot of issues these have been solved by using of those provisions which
are really necessary has been formed in order to improve condition since the time of world wars.
Both the wars has affected UK in both positive and negative manner. So after a point of time it
become really necessary to solve the issues and bring back peace or order in society. For this
purpose only Safeguard policies were formed considering children and other young adults to be
more vulanarable towards society. This policy is helpful in doing welfare towards children and
young adulte. Also making them realise there worth towards society, making then feel safe.
These has given them opportunity to develop skills in them and making them more effiecent
towards there work assigned to them. Also safe recruitment of employees and volunteers is done
