INTRODUCTION
Social policy is the subject that provides the detail information about the the political,
economical and social aspect that government of nation is carrying out. It is very essential for a
country to implement these policies because this will help in providing benefits and to
understand the principles and guidelines which will affect the standard of living of people in a
country. There are several issues that come across in adapting the policies such as poverty,
racism, child protection, unemployment, education policies and many (Alesina and Ardagna,
2010). In this essay three most affecting issues social policies will be discussed along with that
several suggestions and recommendations will be provided to overcome these issues.
MAIN BODY
Unemployment
Unemployment is the situation where large number of population in a country is in a state
where they are not employed and are not able to get the opportunities of job. This is a
circumstance where people are suffering from various problems. At present time it is one of the
major issue that are faced by people in a society. In economic term it can be seen that nation's
development is getting affected very badly through this. Country's GDP is also impacted through
this in an adverse manner.
There are various laws that has been introduced by government of UK as to eradication
the unemployment situation from the country. Unemployment act 1934, has been drawn by legal
system so that people who are facing the situation of unemployment could be able to get
solutions for that and can avail opportunities to work (Carroll and Shabana, 2010). The bill of
this amendment has been divided into three parts. Insurance- the insurance schemes are totally
dependent upon the contributions. Eligibility- The benefits and assistance are prioritised for
those employees so that issues of people can be get resolved. Transition- existing schemes has to
be upgraded so that better opportunities and services can be availed to the employees in of
company in a nation.
Racism
This is another aspect which is influencing the nation's people and economy as well.
Racism is discrimination and prejudice towards individuals in view of their race or ethnicity.
Today, the utilization of the expression "prejudice" does not effectively fall under a solitary

definition. The ideology underlying supremacist hones regularly incorporates the possibility that
people can be subdivided into unmistakable gatherings that are distinctive because of their social

faced by people in a country. Race relations act 1965, is the first legal step that has been
introduced so that complaints and issues related to racism can be resolved by people in the
society. Basically it is addressing problems where people are discriminated in terms of their
colour, gender, race etc. After II world war there were many such problems that took place in the
nation. After seeing, this form was created so that they can be able to resolve the racism issues
and problems.
Child protection
Child protection has become of the major aspect that has to be focused by government of
a country as because at present era children are very badly treated in a country. There are many
problems likes violence abuse, neglect and exploitation that children are facing. Presently in
many places they are tortured and are abused which are affecting kids and mentally they are
getting disturbed. This is also impacting culture of a nation as well.
To protect and providing safety to children government has incorporated various rules
and regulation. Children act 1989, is a legal aspect that has been taken by UK government so that
children in family and other places can get protection against various issues and problem. This
law is very effective as because it will safe the kids and provide them the courage to live a happy
and stressless life. Many rights has been drawn for kids as there are many wrong acts are
performed against children. This law has very effectively helped them to protect against such
issues as they are very beneficial for kids living in the country (Murray, 2015). This law also
helps in developing kids and to avail all those benefits that are required for them.
RECOMMENDATIONS
It is very necessary for government of the nation to take a proper overview for all the
laws and legislation that has been introduced by them. It become very essential to have a proper
check of the laws whether they are implemented for the safety and protection. Social policies as

are very necessary for a nation to develop and grow the economy. Adapting this will also help in
attaining effective living of people in the society.
New amendments has to be introduced so that drawbacks of earlier used law can be
removed. As unemployment is very much increasing in nation hence many opportunities has to
be availed to the people so that unemployment can be eradicated (Schneider, Kallis and
Martinez-Alier, 2010). Actions against those people who do racism act, so that more such
negative aspects can not be get done in nation. It is very essential for all to consider the social
policy of a country so that living level of every individual can be improved and nations economy
will also get standardised.
CONCLUSION
In this essay it has been concluded that there are various social policies that are
introduced in a country so that standards of living of people in society of a nation can be
improved and enhanced. There are numerous issues in UK regarding the social policies hence it
is very essential to overcome them as it will lead in attaining goods living of people in the
country. It is also very necessary to face many issues and problems that are affecting societies
welfare. Therefore various recommendation and suggestions has been concluded here.
