Assessment Task 2
Analysis of contemporary issues in organisational behaviour through using social psychology
knowledge
Organisational behaviour is the concept that assists in understanding the manner in which
individual and group of individuals behave or act while performing activities together. It is
categorised in three aspects that are individuals in workplace, work groups along with how
companies behave in macro environment (Warwick and Traeger, 2018). It is concerned as
academic discipline that includes recounting, accepting, envisaging and controlling behaviour of
human resources in working environment. The concept is constantly evolving due to various
factors and also faces wide numbers of challenges. As per the understanding of social
psychology, it can be said that one of the issue in organisational behaviour is telecommuting. It
is work arrangement that allows employees to operate remotely, specifically work from home, at
the time of completing tasks. Revolution of industrial era has resulted in technological
innovation which plays huge role in ongoing life of individual. Technology is detrimental to
interactions of human capital and impacts negatively on their behaviour or relationships among
people in workplace. As technology is essential in organisations, it influences organisational
behaviour. It allows companies to be in regular communication and also changes the ways
people interacts with supervisors as well as peers. When employees do not find productive work
place, then telecommuting becomes distracted and limits potentials to meet deadlines. This turns
out to be challenge for companies and cuts daily interactions of management team with
employees that leads to issues within behaviour of organisation.
Another issue in context to organisational behaviour is workforce diversity. It is seen that
organisation is a combination of humans that are different from each other and posses distinct
values, religion, norms, attitude and many more. It brings huge challenges for company in

context to communication, dysfunctional conflicts as well as team dynamics. When managers
fails in managing workforce diversity then it results in high employee turnover, more
interpersonal conflicts and difficulty in sharing thoughts or commanding for completing tasks. In
current era, organisational behaviour is hampered die to various conditions. One is on which both
partners actively pursues careers in professional fields (Smith, El-Anis and Farrands, 2017).
Business concerns are used to of physical relocation of human resources and people moving
through low level ranking to higher positions requires experience in wide number of roles in
distinct organisational units. Physical relocation along with job makes was used in companies to
develop employees talent. However, dual career couples are restricting flexibility among people
to accept workings individuals and this is emerging issue in organisational behaviour for
acquiring addition to developing talents. Along with this, diversity also comes from younger
citizens that enter into workforce. It is the Generation X that brings wide number of new ways
and techniques in the working world together with preferred employment relationships. These
are enthusiastic, fresh, innovation, ambitions and so on. These people require handling with
circumspection and resist to live with wok despite prefers work to live selecting a life that is key
issue within organisations.
Organisational behaviour also faces contemporary issue of coping with temporariness.
In existing world, operational methods are improving, product life cycles are becoming thinner
and fashions are constantly changing in faster ways. To deal with all, it is becoming more
pressurising situation for organisational managers to introduce major change programs, strategies
and systems once or twice in decade. Within the organisation, all are facing complexities of
permanent temporariness because of external competition and changing macro business
environment that requires developed and innovative products addition to effective services with
superior qualities (Haque Fernando and Caputi, 2019). Personals working in the company are
required to continually update their skills, potentials, set of abilities and knowledge for carry out
requirements of work to met deadline and this is becoming cumbersome difficult of top level
managers to predict or analyse the ways employees are reacting or behaving towards external
changes.
The contemporary issue in front of organisational behaviour is workplace complexities
that hamper understanding the mechanisms in which people behave and perform actions with
other groups and members. The main issues are in form of employee privacy, employee rights,

unionism and changing expectations. It is analysed the superiors in organisations have initiated
to intrude along with trespass hugely in personal lives of subordinates that creates resentment
among employees and leads to issues in emerging times. A concern towards rights of employees
is achieving great heights. All staff members have demanded to work with their rights and this
has resulted towards banning of certain practices and limits understanding behaviours of people
in groups. Along with this, organisations also faces emerging issue of carrying burden of
providing additional facilities to all employees that previously unions were providing, companies
are required to take more precautions for ensuring fair treatment and non discrimination in work
allotments. If the precautions are not taken on time then union membership ay begin to increase
again that might influence organisational behaviour drastically.
Responding towards globalisation is another issue faced by organisational behaviour as
per social psychology. It is perceived that today’s business is majorly market driven in which
product demand exists irrespective of climatic situations, distance and locations. Moreover,
businesses are expanding for capturing large market share as well as to build and maintain top
ranks (Wong and Wong, 2017). Growing internationalisation of enterprises causes issues with
people management as managers needs to cope with complexities in practices, work ethics,
unfamiliar legislations, attitudes and styles of international people, languages and competitors.
Moreover, globalisation is making organisational behaviour more rigid and reactive that makes
things more challenging for the management of business concern.
CONCLUSION
From above assessment it has been concluded that social psychology plays crucial
function in organisations. The contemporary issues that are faced by organisational behaviour
include responding towards globalisation, workplace complexities, coping with temporariness,
workforce diversity and telecommuting.
