Participant 1 Interview
Question 1: How would speak of the society that you live in?
Response: ‘I feel the society that I live in, is very deprived but jovial in its own ways. We are
one as a family and like to celebrate small things together. The society is firm but not very.
We live in an industrial society where the people are very laborious and supportive with each
other.’
Question 2: How do you feel about the residence you have been born and bought up?
Response – ‘I live in outskirts of the city where too many houses are located very close to
each other and personally, I feel very congested at times for I cannot listen to my own music,
watch my own television peacefully as because other people are doing the exact same thing at
the same time and I can almost hear everything all the time. My parents worked in the same
factory and they got married, out of love and they bought me up with the same affection and
care.’
Question 3: What would happen if you grow up in a different part of the city?
Response – ‘I believe the other parts of the city, the children and the adults are very rich and
they live a far prestigious life than us. I believe the other parts of the city are more privileged
and people are more happy and aristocratic there – I have seen their dresses and lifestyles.
May be if I was born there – I would have been rich and led a lavish life but I believe they are
very arrogant for they do not treat us well and look down upon us. ’
Question 4: How is the scenario of the college you are currently attending?
Response – ‘In the college, the teachers force the students with studies of their own choice
and the way of learning that they feel is right. The culture of the college is very teacher
centric and we are made to live a life that is decided by them. The culture of the community

college that I am attending is mixed for it has mostly students from lower middle class
families and upper middle class families. I do not understand why these upper class people
join our college when they do not know how to respect people.’
Question 5: What do you support and do not support in college?
Response – ‘I support the free spirit of the fellow mates who wants to rebel against the
irrational norms of the society. I do not support the mindset of the professors who believe in
teaching in a monotonous and one dimensional way with all the students. I support the
support the charity groups and ‘social help groups’ that we the students from same
background arranges and I do not support the disparity that exists between students and
between the students and the mean professors. I support the student union that we have in our
college and I do not like the grading system for mostly all the teachers are very biased and
partial to some students.’
Question 6: How do you feel is the exact nature of the problem?
Response – ‘Looking at both the conflict scenario – I can say for both the urban society
people and the professors in our college - the problem is that they feel they have all the power
in the world and the right to oppress us as well. I believe the problem is two faceted – the
social between the privileged and underprivileged students and the authority gap between the
teachers and the students. I believe that the professors are very aware of their authorities and
they like to exercise their powers with the students, unnecessarily and even to the extent of
ruthlessness – failing a student who is not their favorite’
Question 7: What choice would you have made if you read in a more sophisticated college?
Response – ‘I think the problem is same everywhere.’
Question 8: How will you go about solving the problem? ‘

Response – ‘I guess I will have different colleges for different economic sects of the society.
Then we can exist with chaos. By making the student union stronger. I would have a counter
system for marking the professor’s for their conducts and behavior with the students. By
having more policies in favor of the student’s learning and to guide the students to learn in
more experiential way. There has to be student support policies to back the social rights and
the educational rights of the students. By creating a stronger student forum where the student
problems are addressed by the student themselves. A student feedback system for teacher
evaluation must be set so that their oppressive behavior can be judged and overruled as well.’
