INTRODUCTION
Social role is referred to responsibilities of individuals towards society in order to ensure
social welfare and development of society. The theory of Social Role Valorisation is based upon
betterment and development of living standards of low status group of people residing in society.
This report essay will be aimed at understanding the meaningful concept of Social Role
Valorisation in context of presented Case study of Hanna Beard. Furthermore, it will
highlighting the insights of mentioned case study in order to ensure effective understanding of
the same (Connaughton, and Cline, 2021).
MAIN BODY
The society is basically referred to the aggregate of individuals residing in a particular
geographical location as well as factors and aspects associated with the same which makes up a
society. For instance, the denotion i.e., Society is inclusive of various common individual
elements including traditions, interests, beliefs, interests, etc. which promotes similarity and
correspondence towards each other. In addition to that, each and every individual present in the
society has responsibilities to contribute values towards society in some or the other manner in
the aim of social development and welfare. The roles and responsibilities of individuals towards
society include leader, connector, observer, moralist, knowledge generator, etc. which further
facilitate in contributing values towards society. All the individuals contribute their own values

as professional practices of people (Tilly, 2019).
According to Genio, (2022), Social Role Valorisation is the aggregate set of views and
ideas based upon enhancement of lives of people residing in society facing any sort of
disadvantages, discrimination, pessimistic situations, etc. in their personal or professional life.
The theory of Social Role Valorisation states that there is a necessity for individuals to initiate or
raise efforts towards fulfilling their social responsibilities in order to ensure development of the
same. Another major highlight of this theory lies in the fact that people with good social values
have easy access to good and efficient things in life. In order to be precise, it states that people
high social values, network, recreational roles, civic, etc. are more prone to positive things
throughout their life which provide them with opportunity of success and growth in life.

Therefore, it plays a crucial role in development of society as well as individuals residing in the

Referring to chosen case study of Hannah Beard, She is a 12 years old girl who lives in
City of Australia i.e., Adelaide. In addition to that, Hannah is pursuing academic learning as well
as goes to school in order to acquire required information and knowledge. The case study has
been highlighting that she goes to school with her and brother as well as she is fond of learning
and enjoys going to school for the same. Throughout 5 years of her academic learning, she has
been involved in Prospect Theatre as her interests lies in Acting, Drama, and real life talent such
as X factor. Furthermore, She likes to write scripts as her aim lies in being a playschool
presenter in near future. The belief of Hannah lies in being confident in herself in order to
accomplish her dreams and goals (Pagan, 2020).
The title of the mentioned case study of Hannah Beard is “Don't Fence Me In” which
highlights the fact that she is aimed at initiating best of her efforts achievement of her dreams.
For instance, she believes that each and every individual is capable of carrying out necessary
activities and practices in order to achieve their dreams. The accomplishment of dreams and
goals will facilitate them in attaining a good reputation in the society among other individuals
with higher social values and qualities. She is determined towards raising necessary efforts and
initiatives in order to become eligible and qualified to carry out her dream activities of being a
Playschool presenter. As she enjoys academic learning practice, she is fond of carrying out roles
and responsibilities of a Playschool presenter in order to contribute additional values towards
learning environment for students or learners (Hanna Beard Don't Fence Me In, 2017).
Referring to above mentioned theory of Social Role Valorisation, it has been analysed
that each and every individual residing in society contribute their own values towards betterment
and development of society in some or the other manner. In order to be precise, Hannah is
willing to serve a Playschool by being a presenter for the same which will facilitate her in
carrying out desired activities and practices. Moreover, she does not want to any factor or aspect
to become a barrier in her personal growth and development as she wants to pass with flying
colours. In addition to that, it will facilitate her in eliminating these barriers as well as
contributing consistent efforts towards her personal growth and development. Being able to
achieve desired goals as well as upright social values will benefit her in being recognised among
people in society as an individual with success (Walmsley, Strnadova, and Johnson, 2018).

The above case study is highly relevant with the theory of Social Role valorisation as it
includes determination of Hannah towards contribution of values towards society. In order to be
precise, she is aimed at personal growth and development in order to be eligible for being an
upright Playschool Presenter. Moreover, it will facilitate her in being involved in Playschool to
provide effective learning and knowledge to students or learners by carrying out required
activities and practices. She is aimed at developing a suitable learning environment for children
engaged in Playschool which will facilitate them in effective learning of necessary values and
concepts. Furthermore, these positive initiatives and practices carried out her will result in
enhancing her image in the society among individuals residing in the same. Therefore, it will
contribute various additional values towards her as well as society with betterment and
improvisation of herself as well as society (Ashburner, Bobir, and van Dooren, 2018).
The mentioned case study of Hannah Beard provides an understanding of Social Role
where an individual is expected to be aimed at contributing some or the other values. For
instance, it includes personal as well as professional activities which facilitates in improving and
enhancing the existing scenario of society with consideration of all the factors as well as aspects
impacting upon the same. In addition to that, collaborative efforts of individuals living in a

to look out for social welfare and development, but the only pitfall associated with this is the lack
of initiative from people living in society. An individual is not required to do something
additional then his own personal and professional life practices as it could be accomplished with
their personal growth and development which will contribute additional values towards society.
Furthermore, it will further lead to economic growth of that particular nation with development

of society when people will carry out effective as well as efficient practices towards the same.
Therefore, it will improvise and enhance existing situations and scenarios of present society in
upcoming future circumstances (Stedman, 2019).

From the above essay, it has been concluded that Social Role Valorisation is a
meaningful concept which must be taken into consideration by individuals living in society in
order to contribute values towards the same. For instance, the mentioned case study is highly
relevant to the theory of SRV as Hannah Beard is aimed at contributing her own values towards
betterment of society with consideration of achievement of her dreams of becoming a Playschool
Presenter. In addition to that, it facilitates an understanding which determines role of individual
efforts towards growth and development of society in some or the other manner. Furthermore, it
further highlights the impact of social roles and responsibilities upon individuals as well as
