Introduction
Human service is an indispensable field, which is allied with serving individual to meet his or
her need. It focuses on the prevention of human problems through a proper logical,
knowledgeable, organised and scientific way. The main objective of human service is relying on
meeting every needs of individual. It helps to identify the needs as well as the problem of people
and involve in proper planning and developing of action to prevent their problem, which is
related with the proper health promotion and well-being. Here, social worker will be discussed as
an important human service provider, as well as their importance in the community development.

Background of Social worker
Social work is an important profession and discipline, which is associated with serving the
families, individuals, communities and groups to fulfil their need. It deals with the enhancement
of social functioning and involves in the promotion of overall well being. It is a profession of
academic discipline and it is practice based.
Social work in concerned with helping individual to develop their ability and skills, which will
help him or her to utilises their resources to resolve their own problem and promote their own
growth and development. Social work mainly focuses on human rights, social justice, respect for
diversity and collective responsibility (Rubin and Babbie, 2016). It is associated with recognising
human problems in broader aspect that include domestic violence, poverty and unemployment.
Social work helps to engage people for helping them in addressing the changes of life, which is
associated with enhancing the well-being.
It focuses on providing proper service, psychotherapy, health and social care services and
counselling to the people to prevent the significant problem of individuals and help them to
improve the outcome of their life. Social worker concentrates on different field according to their
skills and expertise, to improve the quality of their service and helping people to come up with
their problem (Garbarino, 2017).
Literature Review
There are several researches and studies are found, which have been carried out to find out the
significance, importance and emergency of this human service to improve the overall well being

of the society. According to Padgett (2016), social work is an important human service, which is
associated with finding the problems of human being and development of proper remedial action
to solve their problem in order to enhance their quality of life. The most important fact in this
study is relying on the skills and ability of the social worker. Utilising of improved qualitative
method, which include improving the quality of operation, improve in the intellectual level of the
worker will help them to perform their task in an efficient way. This will help to improve the
quality of their service and hence, it enhances the wellbeing of the society.
Whereas Turner (2017), establishes that family and child social worker performs the most
significant task in this profession. They are associated with proper counselling of the parents and
provide them adequate information regarding the child rearing. As the parent plays the most
important role in developing a proper social behaviour of their child. Proper counselling will
help the parent to nourish their child in such a way, which will influence their social, cognitive,
behavioural, physical and mental status.
According to Mirowsky (2017), education plays the most significant role in improving the social
status of an individual. Adequate education will help an individual to develop their knowledge,
skills and abilities, which will help them to develop desirable outcome of their life. As education
helps to train, every individual to utilise, evaluate and acquire information in correct way. It
helps the individual to improve their occupational and earning status, which will reflect their
social status.
On the other hand, Fanning (2019), explains that the significant effectiveness of social work rely
on the field of mental health. There are several individual found who are suffering from several
mental problems, such as, depression, isolation and anxiety. This acts as a great challenge for the

social worker to motivate them towards life. In this field, the main task performed by social
worker focuses on proper communication and counselling, to control their consequences and
encouraged them to develop a desire to their life. They also associated with helping the
individual to protect them from addiction.
Analysis of relevant policy and legislation in the chosen profession
In the case of social worker, one of the most significant legislation, which should be followed, is
the Health and Social Work Professions Order 2001. The social work involves skilled and
efficient person with proper academic practice and knowledge to serve the society in a better
way. Hence, the UK government has developed this act to provide proper guideline and course
of practice to the social worker to perform well in their respective field. It is associated with
providing adequate disciplinary approaches, which helps them to control any undesirable
incidents and impairment to achieve a good quality of work.
The act helps to develop a council, which will help to assess, monitor and evaluate every task of
the social worker to provide better service and feedback. It will help to identify the relevant
problems of the society and hence, it helps the social worker to develop remedial action
according to the specific problem. This is linked with finding out the challenges and problems,
which have occurred while performing the task and focuses on their analysis and control. The act
is related with providing proper infrastructure of learning and training to improve the skills,
ability and quality of the social worker to serve the society in a superior way (Legislation.gov.uk,
2019).
Changes to society linked to the development, the emergence of chosen profession

Social work was developed in early of 19th century with the objectives of fulfilling the every
aspect of human need. It is associated with finding the main risk and problems of community and
focuses on creating proper preventive measure to control the problem. It helps to recognise the
exact need of an individual and helps to meet their need. Proper social service is associated with
increasing the self-ability and skills to recognise their own problems and resolve it by their own
way. This will help the individual to develop a sense of acquiring, evaluating and utilising
resources and information in acceptable way, which is related with their self-development.
Social work becomes able to change the view, ideas and philosophies of an individual in a
positive manner through proper counselling (Howe, 2017). Providing suitable service to the
individual, families and communities is associated with reducing the consequences of domestic
violence, unemployment and social injustice. Appropriate social service to the parent will help
them in proper child rearing. Social support to children is associated with the development of
their greater physical, mental, intellectual and social status. This help to build a positive change
in human behaviour (O'Connor, 2015).

Conclusion and Recommendations
It can be concluded that the social work is an important human service that is associated with
fulfilling the need of every individual. In the above-mentioned essay, it has been found that
social service is associated with promoting the well-being of every individual by preventing the
consequences of the problem they have faced. It is associated with increasing the moral value of
an individual, which is related to improve the social and mental status of an individual. It focuses
on improving the skills and ability of every individual to identify their own problems and solve
them by their own.
It can be recommended that the social care worker should provide proper payment for their task.
Their remuneration should be increased. This will help them to increase their interest in this
profession and they will able concentrate on their task. The skills and development of the social
worker should be increased to provide better service to the society. They should use advanced
technology to perform their task and to store the records of their patients. They should improve
their communication skills and they should learn different language to serve a wide range of
people in preventing their problems.
