Social work is one of the most challenging yet rewarding careers for any person. The social
workers take the responsibility of helping the individuals groups of people as well as families in
order to cope up with their problems so that their lives can be improved. Social workers are
serving the clients with wide ranges of the challenges such as physical and mental health issues,
poverty, family problems as well as the addiction. There can be provided the clinical services
such as counseling and therapy to their clients in order to ensure their mental peace. I am a
resident of India and I have seen that the people in India are facing several numbers of problems
in their lives which are required to be solved by the social workers. I have my study background
in sociology as I have a bachelor degree in Arts in the stream of Sociology. I have identified
myself during the course of some time that I am the type of person who feels happy while
helping the people and solving the small as well as big problems in their lives.
I am a very emotional person and I have a desire or goal of helping people of my community.
There are some people who are abandoned by their family members. I feel that I should be able
to help them through doing some social work by connecting with non- government
organizations. As a professional, I want to work for the welfare of the people and in the future, I
want to have my own NGO in order to help and solve the problems of such abandoned people. I
want to study further in this field and as it will help me in my professional development and will
prove to be helpful for me in being a social worker in my future.
I have a certain belief system that has brought me to such social work. I have a belief that the
cheerful communication, supporting hands, lovable behavior as well as the efficient care which a
social worker can provide to the people can be helpful for them in order to be happy and satisfy
with their lives. I have identified the lack of education in India for the people who want to be a
social worker and help out the people of their community. I am looking for the international
degree in the social work so that I can attain the global perspectives regarding the social work
which can be helpful for me in working for the enhancement as well as the development of the
communities within India.
I have certain values as well as perspectives that I would like to bring into the social work. As
per my point of view, the social workers provide the great and invaluable services to the
individuals by supporting their well being as well as create a happy, prosperous as well as safer

and inclusive society for the people. The primary concern of a social worker can be that the basic
needs of the individuals are fulfilled. As a social worker in the future, I will pay my very first
attention to the fulfillment of the basic requirements of people facing such problems. I have the
idea that it is one of the most challenging professions as there is intellectually as well as
emotionally taxing but the best part of being a social worker is that they have the opportunity to
enact the positive social change every day by protecting the human rights as well as the dignity
of the people in need. The values that I feel should be there in the social work as it is a service-
based profession that there must be the willingness of helping the people in a social worker.
There must be extreme motivation within a person in order to make some good difference in the
life of an individual (Chell, et. al., 2016).
The other value that I would like to bring in the social work as a social worker is to bring social
justice for the people where a societal injustice is identified due to any family situation. I believe
that my duty would be to recognize such situations in my community and provide assistance to
them in order to result and alleviating suffering. There is a requirement of having professional
awareness in social work in order to cater to the need of the people (Bradford, 2018). There must
be a respect for humanity in a social worker and he/ she should have a sense that all the members
of society deserves an equal chance of living their lives without any discrimination.
The social workers are ineffective at their work without the kindness as well as compassion in
their behavior. There may be long days during such profession and sometimes the people
suffering may be making the things harder for a social worker (Congress, 2017). Kindness is
very much required in order to motivate and be motivated through all the difficult days. There
must be a sense that hard work is going to pay out and help those people to improve their lives
one day.
I would like to bring a sense of integrity while doing social work as a professional as it will help
in building a relationship with co-workers as well as the clients. I would ensure that my personal
affairs are also managed effectively and I am self- motivated (Harris, et. al., 2017).
While studying about the sociology and social work, I identified that it is possible sometimes for
the values of the social workers to conflict with the ethical code of conduct of the social workers;
hence it is very much valuable to maintain the good professional boundaries. Crossing the

professional boundaries can be proven as harm to the social worker himself as well as his client
and can worsen the care situation in a much unforeseen way.
I have thought that I would like to become a social worker and help the people of my homeland
in order to keep them happy and satisfied with their lives. Social work is challenging work but it
brings happiness and a sense of satisfaction in a person’s life. I want to have further education in
this field to be a professional and help the people in my home country India to live their lives in a
better manner (Jones & Phillips, 2016). I am thinking of working with NGO after completing my
education and after some years I am looking to start my own NGO where I will be able to help
the people who are facing several numbers of their problems in their life by providing them a
place to live, food to eat as well as counseling services in order to assure their mental peace.
There is a requirement of assisting the people in coping up with their daily life problems and
making the society and community a better place to live.
