INTRODUCTION
The main objective of the essay is to focus on the role and contribution of social work in
relation to multi- agency and multi- disciplinary services in children and families. As per the
current scenario the social care services are facing many kinds of challenges. The
multidisciplinary disciplinary services are essential in relation to children and adult. They are

According to the view of Mitchell and Carlson, (2016) multi-agency context, it is the
voluntary, statutory independent sector who serve different services to the children and their
families. These services may be supportive, preventative and protective responses to a child’s
needs. It can be said that no singe person or agency have responsibilities to the serve different
services to the children and families, rather it is the share responsibilities across all the agencies.
It has been identified that some needs are being satisfied with the universal services with that
some wants of the children have been fulfilled by the single agency. These agencies all work
together in order to ensure that needs and wants of the child and family can be satisfied. It is very
significant for these agencies to safeguard and promote welfare of the children by supporting and
enabling the different range of services and community based resources to the different sectors.
Under these agencies, multi-disciplinary approach have been used so that they can able to meet
the needs and wants of the children and their families.
In the contradicting view of George and Horner, (2017) multi- disciplinary or multi-
agency context is being mostly used with the references which are the agencies who deliver the
services related to the heath and social care. In simple words it can be said that it is the group or
team of the people which are from the multi-disciplinary approach who work together in order to
serve co-ordinated services to the children and their families. It can be said that these are the

agencies that work for the same client and for the same objective. However, ambiguously it may
have been defined, multidisciplinary concept is well established in the literature of health and
social care.

work comes, then these are the people or activities who work to discharge patients from the
different hospitals, this have been seen as the indicator of involvement of the multi-disciplinary
between the services of the heath and social care. Social work is the helping the different

vulnerable population. Social work is a profession concerned with helping individuals, families,

that there are several other issues which are being solved by the social workers such as
unemployment, poverty, domestic violence etc. There are several places where social workers
work, that are school boards, family services agencies, general and psychiatric hospitals,
children’s aid agencies, federal and provincial departments, correctional institutions, welfare
administration agencies etc.

workers are being employed at the heath and social services or at the government agencies. Other
than that 74% are employed at the former and 19% in the latter. With that rest of the social
workers work at the private offices. It has been founded that social workers plays very big role in
