INTRODUCTION
Human services can be referred to as unique approach which is applied by an
organisation for fulfilling the needs of people in the society. Non -profit or public organisation
emphasizes on preventing as well as solving the issues of people in the society. By providing the
human services, enterprise tries to fulfil its commitment of bringing improvement in the overall
quality of customers life.
The assignment have focus on identifying the roles as well as responsibilities of social
workers in context of NHS. It is basically a public organisation which offers health and social
care services. Study will emphasize on historical emergence as well as development of social
worker. The key legislations as well as policies related to the social workers will be highlighted
in the assignment.
MAIN BODY
Main duties and responsibilities of social workers
The main duties of social workers in NHS organisation is to assist service user in coping
up with emotional, social, behavioural and economic problem. In addition to this the other duties
of social workers in NHS is to provide counselling as well as interviewing the customers. Role of
social workers in NHS is to perform administration tasks. It is the duty of social workers to
formulate the development plan for improving clients well being. Responsibility of social worker
is to provide an appropriate response to crisis situation for instance child abuse. In context of
NHS, role of social workers is to prepare the plan for an individual who is suffering from
behaviour or mental problems. It is the duty as well as responsibility of to assist patients in
developing the understanding about their diagnosis and advising the service user to make
adjustment in their lives. The function of social workers is to refer service user to community
resources such as health care, food camps etc.
Literature review on historical emergence and development of social workers profession
According to the view of Mellor, 2018, the profession of social work has emerged from
the activities performed by youth. The author Garrett, 2018, argues that profession of social work
has originated from the expansion of public services which is supported by universalism and
social rights.

As per the opinion of Timms and Watson, 2018, people working as social workers has
not been successful. Later , it has been argued that clinical social workers have been successful
in their profession. As per the thinking of Perlman,2018., it is very much important for social
workers to concentrate on strengths of service user expect paying attention to weakness. The
author states that this strategy will assist social workers in realizing their potential to foster
personal growth. As per the perception of Perlman, 2018., there has been growth in the
profession of social work during the period of great depression in US. The author states that
social workers in order to deal with the situation of great depression they themselves got
involved in the new deal events. The later, different authors argues that the various programmes
organised by government in the nation has help in boosting the professional growth of social
workers.
Policies and legislation of Social workers
The economic and social policies laid focus on securing full employment of social
workers. Objective of social as well as economic reform is to strengthen the unions. Minimum
wage right act has been introduced by the government in the nation for ensuring the economic
justice. In addition to this, other legislation such as social security act has provided social
workers with comprehensive safety. Social security act provide social workers with right to
social welfare (Garrett,2018.). The other important legislation related to social workers is
Servicemen adjustment act. As per Servicemen adjustment act, government will financially
support social workers and will help them in social welfare.
Addresses the changes to the society
Social worker is the important part of the society as they keep working for the benefits of
the society voluntarily and they keep on helping individuals, families and members of various
group without making any sort of discriminations and they are responsible for brining various
changes in the society. They develop a relationship among the various communities and give
first preference to humanity and have played an important role in improving the relationships
within the society (Horner, 2018.). Another change that has brought by the social workers is that
they have helped in minimising social crimes within the society for social workers have
generated awareness within the society which has led to the minimum social crime. Another
change which has brought by the social workers in the society is that they have been successful

in uplifting the status of the women in this society this is major change which has been brought
by the social workers. Social workers has also brought the changes like social justice as they
keep on fighting for social justice and they have helped in eradicating the poverty within the
society, helped in providing education and have minimised the discrimination within the society.
The successes and downfalls of the professional/occupational role selected.
Social workers have their success and downfalls. Success of social work is help to give
financial benefits because this give profits and free medical services to peoples by these peoples
are not payment for this because NHS provides the free medical services to peoples. Also, have
success to growth of company by intrinsic rewards. This organisation is provided the services to
peoples by making it good and tangible effects to peoples. By this employee commitment like
they have personal interest in and commitment to the organisation (Mackelprang, Salsgiver, and
Salsgiver 2016).
There are advantages to employing workers. This also have downfalls like limited
funding. It is the fund development and fund raising is the great challenge for the company and
its work because NHS is also required the funds for work and provide free medical services to
peoples. This also impact to social pressure of NHS because this have their personal image at the
marketplace. That also get downfalls from the public security. This means organisation must
make their financial statements available to the public. By this have records of work but not in
proper way.
Above study it has been effective and valuable for the work and growth of NHS. This
organisation is provided the free medical services to peoples and their local public's. This
services are effective and maintainable (Nolan, Perla and Provost, 2016). This firm has the duties
and responsibility to pay services and provide services to the peoples. It is effective and
important for making human health effective and better. Overall discussion is say the free
medical services are help to make human health best and good in order to who peoples have not
money for paying amount for their good health and treatments.
Recommendations for NHS which is the social worker of free medical services. They can
give medical services to peoples with medicines and healthy foods. By these peoples are
attracted towards the organisation and also to give their contribution to make effective brand
image at marketplace. It is best and good ways of working with social workers and its growth.
By these peoples are happy and safe with their health. Management can take and make effective

and valuable changes in their work like using treatment method and technology for treatments.
By this work and services are effective and plays valuable role to improve it (Qiu and et.al.,
2018).
CONCLUSION
From the above study it had been concluded that the understanding the human services
has important for the work and better human lives. This has impact to business and human lives
in positive and in negative way. Social workers had been effective and efficient for the better
human lives. They have closer for the peoples like emotionally and mentally attached. It has
been had success and downfalls with this business and social workers. This played effective and
valuable roles to improve and develop human lives. Technology advancement helped for making
and providing effective and better treatments to peoples. Report had been covered by the
recommendations for making effective future of the human lives. It has important and good for
understanding human services.
