SOCIAL WORK PERSONAL STATEMENT
Six years time period spent in the field of social care has supported me in realizing that my
passion and area of interest is associated with helping people and working in favour of them.
Further, I am interested in gaining knowledge and information in the field of social work and this
encourages me to participate in the affairs of social working. At present I am working in residential
home where different type of care services are delivered to adults. I have worked with different kind
of individuals who are suffering from health issues.
Further, it is well known fact that social workers have to play different type of role and as a
worker I usually take feedback from people to whom I am delivering services. In short this
enhances my motivation level and I can easily determine the areas where I am not performing
better. While working in any care home I am assigned various roles and responsibilities which I
carry out in appropriate manner. Apart from this, my interest is increasing in the field of Social
work and due to this basic reason I prefer to learn new things with the help of people living in
society can be supported.
I have attended different sessions on social care and they have assisted me in adopting new
ways of delivering services in care home. Apart from this, I have done graduation in social work
approved by Health & Care professions council. By obtaining degree I am able to better understand
the concept of social worker and in turn it has become easy to deliver different type of services to
the people. Moreover, my aim in near future is to get master degree in the field of social work as
through this I can easily work on larger platform.
At present skills present in myself are active listening, social perceptiveness, self awareness,
coordination and empathy. Through all these skill I am able to better perform as a social worker and
has enhanced my overall performance in the care home where I am working presently. Doing care
for others as a quality is present in myself and this has assist me in taking active participation in the
programs where welfare of others is taking place.
Further, I am interested in reading books and various articles associated with social work as
through this it becomes easy for me to understand the ways through which social worker can better
help others. Apart from this, I am also focusing on my personal developed so that I can better
perform in this field where my interest is quite high. On the other hand, I am having no experience
in working with children and to gain experience I have started to visit care home where small
childrens are delivered different type of services. Moreover, on continuous basis I prefer to read
community care magazine and this supports me to be well aware about social issues prevailing in
the society and I can easily respond towards such issues.
