Human service work can be seen as an opportunity for social change or a
means of maintaining social order
There are different issues faced by a person that can be physical, emotional or psychological. To
handle them the type of perception that individual carry differs. Some may be able to overcome
them and some face problem in doing so (Lee and Hudson, 2017). It requires to have proper
understanding of people so that proper care and support can be delivered. Human service work
can be determined as one aiming to approach the objective to meet requirement of humans with
the help of an interdisciplinary knowledge that is focused on remediation and prevention of
problems. Apart from this, it also maintains commitment towards improving the overall quality
of life of service population (Perron, Taylor and Margerum-Leys, 2010 ). Further, they promote
improved service delivery system in which focus is not just made on quality of direct services
but also by providing improved accessibility, coordination among professional and
accountability in service delivery.
Changes with the society take place with the efforts that are up by a person who
identified the problem and take up initiative to overcome them. There are different aspects that
are required to be considered by as human work services in which one of the main consideration
made is related with understanding the problems that are faced in the society ( Kadushin and
Harkness, 2014). For examples, it consists of Case workers, Youth Worker, Child Abuse
Worker, etc. All these work with an aim to provide care and in supporting individuals so that
they are able to overcome them in effective manner. All these service workers are able to deliver
they care as a team in which society gets to improve their condition and get benefited. This way,
it can be stated that human service work is considered to be an opportunity for social changes or
to maintain social order. Since past decades, Human services are studied, constantly reviewed
and analysed in which it is stated to be separate knowledge body in discipline with social change
(Kim, Ji and Kao, 2011). Further, it is the study for all human systems, service technology and
social innovations that are developed with an aim to make lives of people, community and
families. There are many schools in various subjects that teach human services to be highly
effective in promoting social change and bringing up liberation and empowerment to individuals.
There are people who have different perception in which they consider human services to be
disguise to gain social control. Social control is considered to be a part of human service activity

and one is required to content that social control is inevitable ( Shardlow, Aldgate and Doel,
2015).
In accordance with my personal values, human services are highly important as they
provide clear visual of how a person should lead their life in spite of problems. It provides the
way that encourages individuals to face the issues and overcome them. Apart from this, it also
supports people to high quality care and this is delivered to them by reaching out to people in
need on immediate basis. Further, my personal values are based on philosophy of socialism and
existentialism (McGarrigle and Walsh, 2011 ). Each of the activities that are undertaken by
human services are for empowering people and to make them liberate from all strive and chains
to form live of people without any biasness. As per my views on human services is positive. I
think it is a type of tool that makes that enables to have social control and providing opportunity
to grown in positive direction. Other than this, it also improves lives of people and providing
them with employment opportunities. Among all these motivation plays vital role in order to
deliver effective care. In order to deliver care, it is important that care providers have high level
of motivation so that the rate of support can be positive and high (Jones and Truell, 2012). On
the other hand, it also requires to provide motivation to all people so that they understand the
changes that they should improve with the help of which support can be provided.
At the time when any type of destruction takes place, victims are physically and
emotionally affected, people chose to support these individuals on the outside in name of human
service but it is identified that they take advantage of this condition and make money out of it
(Negi and Furman, 2010). As my personal view I find it unethical and it is important that people
have proper understanding the individuals who do such act for sake of money. One of the main
problem that is faced by human services is related with lack of knowledge among society about
the services that are delivered. It is important that proper information to be conveyed so that
people are able to know about it and get benefited. Apart from this, it also requires to have
transparent practices that also involve government. This way, the services that are delivered may
become truly effective and inclusive ( Perron, Taylor and Margerum-Leys, 2010). As per the
type of steps that are required to be taken up by human services require to have strong interaction
with individuals so that the main issues that are faced by them can be identified and accordingly
strategies are developed so that they are able to support them resolve the issues in appropriate
manner.

This way, it can also be stated that support to people enables to bring up changes in the
society but it consumes time as the type of perception that individuals have is different.
However, when changes are bought up, then it supports the society to grow and to attain the set
of goals and objectives. Human services are delivered as per the need and requirement of
individuals. At the initial stage proper plan is developed in which interaction help to develop
strong relationship with individuals and then appropriate steps are taken so that the rate of issues
that are faced by them can be eliminated.
