INTRODUCTION
The Covid 19 pandemic has a significant impact on the economic growth of the
countries. The economical conditional had a profound impact which can be seen as a major
shock for the growth of the nation and societal values. The virus had a deep collision on the
lives, jobs, income, health, education of the people. The virus disturbs all the activities of the
nation which affect a lot that the economy of the nation had fallen down. When the pandemic
hit all the national as well as international trade and transaction has stopped down. The
government of the country need to stop all the activities and imposed lockdown so that they
can minimise the spread of virus and save their people and nation. The export and import are
restricted as well as the manufacturing activities also lower down in the first two phase of the
Covid 19. The gross domestic production has also seen a fallen major a loss can be figure
out. The major sector of Great Britain that is travel and tourism has seen a large impact that
there business is almost in the state of shut down. Many of the business during this time
suffer a loss and close down due to not able to pay their taxes and credit on time (Houston,
2020).

LITERATURE REVIEW
This section contain the past publish data about the chosen topic. Literature review is
the most important sector for the researcher as by this chapter they can gain deeper insight
about the selected study.
What is the impact of Covid 19 on economic growth of Great Britain?
As per the view of Alradhawi and et. al (2020), there is a worse impact of Covid 19
pandemic on the economy of Great Britain. When the Crisis hit the nation the overall
economy see a disturb in their trade and transaction. Almost all the activities and sector of the
Britain decline and many of the business shut down. There is an negative effect of the Covid
19 on the growth of economy and social activities. The lives, jobs, education, business,
income seen a decline and almost all are in suffer in great sense. The first two waves of the
Pandemic is much worst for great Britain as all the works are being shut down. People do not
have the money to survive and run their business as a strict lockdown was imposed in the
nation to save the people from the spread of the virus. The gross domestic product of the
nation has decline by 9.7% in 2020 which is the greatest fall in the past few years. This cause
serious impact on the growth of the economy and running of business in this pandemic is
difficult for the company. The unemployment rate in the country has risen to 4.9 percent
which indicate that the labour of nation is not been utilised during this tough time. This
unemployment rate creates a problem where the supply of the money in the market is less as
compared to the demand. The Great Britain public finance has been largely affected by the
shock of Corona virus. The expenses of the government increased a lot as compare to the
revenue earn. This creates a situation where the budget of the legal authority is deficit and the
tax revenue which they earn has fallen down. This hit of the pandemic impact majorly as it
leaves a permanent damage in the growth of the nation which they need to face so that they
can rebuild their nation (Ahmad, Haroon and Hui, 2020).
What are the challenges faced by different sector of Great Britain after the hit of Covid 19
pandemic?
As per the view of Inegbedion (2021), there are various challenges that are faced by
different sectors of Great Britain. All the sectors have severely impacted by the pandemic and
still they are coping up to run their business in smooth manner. Some of the sector that is
affected by the Covid 19 pandemic is:
Document Page
Travel and tourism sector: This is one of important sector for the government to
earn revenue and enhance their economy. After the pandemic almost 75 percent of the air
passenger were fallen down. The room occupancy rate in 2019 was 90 percent in hospitality
industry which came to be only 20 percent after the hit of the crisis. When the first lockdown
was announced at that time accommodation and travel agency saw a decline in their business
operation. This decline creates a situation where many tour and travel agency need to shut
their business due to less revenue. The major challenge that they faced is that the government
of the country imposed a strict barrier to travel which prevents the visitors in large number.
In 2020 the amount of money that was spent by the tourist on travel and tour decline by 96
percent. International as well domestic travelling were strictly banned so that spread of the
virus can be stopped.
Retail sector: In 2020 the total sale in the retail industry has saw a great fall by 1.9
percent as compared to 2019. The clothing sector see a negative decline by 21.5percent and
the consumption of the fuel has lower down by 22.2 percent. This sector has major face the
challenge of social distancing which leads the buyers to purchase less goods and service from
the market. Not only this at the time of second wave the sale again fallen down but this time
the rate of decline is much worse than first lockdown. At this time the sale has decline by 4.1
percent (Harris and Jones, 2020).
What strategies that can be used to redevelop the economy of Great Britain?
As per the view of Lu and et. al (2020), strategies that can be used by the Great
Britain to rebuild their economy and can grow in the upcoming years are:
Effective policy making: The government of the countries should start designing
those policy which can be used by them to protect the interest of national investor. They
should designing those practice which encourage people to start running the business within
the country by providing them the subsidiary. This will help them to effectively utilise the
country resources within the nation in more effective and efficient manner. The policy
makers should plan for those policies which can be used to recover from the pandemic in less
time and can gain faster affect.
Creating job within the nation: Another strategy that can be developed by the legal
authority is creating more job opportunity by announcing various projects. This will help in
reducing the unemployment rate. This strategy will also helps in matching the demand and
Document Page
supply of the labour and creating more income within the nation. This will also helps the
stakeholder to protect their interest by investing in international market.
Reducing the tax on exports: The government of Great Britain can reduce the
charge of the tax that they will earn by exporting the product. This will helps them to
manufacture more goods within the country and than exporting them to other nation. This
will also helps them to earn more foreign currency. This strategy will also helps them to
rebuild their economy as major foreign currency can be earned by them which they can invest
in various international project and can make a good relations with other countries (Vanegas
and et. al, 2018).

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
It can be defined as that systematic procedure which is used by the researcher to
identify, analyse and interpret the data. This section also helps in providing the answer to the
two vital question of the researcher which is how data can be collected and how it can be
analysed. The major reason behind conducting this chapter is to know the type of approaches
and philosophy which can be used to know the data (Kumar, 2018). Research aim and
objective of the investigation is been attained appropriately with the using research
methodology. This section is further divided into sub parts which are discussed below:
Research philosophy: it can be defined as a set of belief and principle to know about
the type of data. There are two type of research philosophy that is positivism and
Interpretivism. Positivism philosophy is used when the data type is based on quantitative. The
principles which are used to identify the data are based on numerical information.
Interpretivism philosophy is used when qualitative data is there are the researcher wants to
apply those set of belief which can identify the perception of human kind in deeper sense. As
per the current investigation Interpretivism philosophy will be used by the researcher. The
reason behind using this philosophy is to identify the data in more detailed manner so that
more knowledge can be acquired.
Research approach: Research approach is that layer in the methodology which uses
various looms to test the theories and hypothesis based on the topic so that aims and
objectives can be accomplished in accurate manner. Deductive and inductive are the two
forms of research approach. Deductive approach tests the hypothesis which is based on
numerical information. On the other hand inductive approach test non numerical information.
In current investigation researcher selects the inductive approach for testing. The benefit of
using this approach is that it develops the new theories which are based on qualitative
information so that test can be applied appropriately (Mukherjee, 2019).
Research strategy: This part uses various strategies to collects the exact information
according to the topic from the respondents. Some of the different types of research strategy
are survey, systematic literature review, action research, experimental research, case study
and many more. In current investigation the research strategy that would be selected by the
investigator is systematic literature review. The benefit that can be obtained to use this
Document Page
measure is that data can be gathers from various sources. Another advantage that can be
gained is it is quite cheap and requires less time to collects the information.
Research choice: There are two type of research choice to collect the type of data
which are quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative data is based on numerical form which
can be expressed in numbers or values. Qualitative data is a non numerical data type which
can be expressed in words and statements. Further they are divided into three groups which
are mono method, mixed method and multi method. Mono method collects one single type of
data that is either quantitative or qualitative. Mixed method gathers both kinds of information
and multi methods also collects both types of data but more than two times. As per the
present investigation Mono method will be chosen as a research choice to obtained
qualitative information (Bairagi and Munot, 2019).
Time horizon: cross sectional and longitudinal are the two time frameworks to know
the point of time for collecting data. Cross sectional time horizon collects data for single time
in whole research and longitudinal gathers the information for multiple time for the chosen
topic. As per the current investigation, investigator would select cross sectional time horizon
to collects data. The reason behind choosing this time horizon is that information will be
gathers in shorter time period and at least cost.
DATA COLLECTION
Data collection: This is the technique of gathering data from various sources
according to the requirement of the selected topic. There are two data collection sources
which are primary data and secondary data. As the name itself says secondary data that
means second hand data which is used multiple times in various research. Primary data is the
first hand information which is directly collected from the participants and is being used for
the first time in the investigation by researcher. In the current investigation, researcher will be
selecting secondary data collection source to gathers the information. The reason behind it is
that information can be obtained from multiple channels like books, journal, articles, online
sites and many more at cheaper rate and less time (Mkandawire, 2019).
Data analysis: It is the technique of evaluating and measuring the collected data by
using the appropriate tool so that aims and objective can be achieved accurately. There are
two forms of data analysis technique which are frequency distribution and thematic. The
foremost evaluate the information which is in the form of quantity that is numerical and the
Document Page
later measures the data which is qualitative in nature. In current research thematic data
analysis technique would be chosen by the researcher. This is used so that more detailed
analyses can be made and discussion can be made on the gathered information.
ETHICAL CONSIDERATION
There are various research ethics that need to be follow by the researcher while
identifying, analysing and gathering data. This is to be follow so that they cannot harms
anybody sentiments and emotions in the society. In present research the ethical norms which
are to be obeying are honesty, integrity, transparency and openness. The investigator should
follow al this so that proper and accurate information can be gathered (Everts and et. al,
2021).
CONCLUSION:
From the above research it is being concluded that Great Britain has suffer al lot with the hit
of the Covid 19 pandemic. The economy growth of nation suffers which impact them by
reducing the economy as compared to past years. Many sector of the nation suffers in greater
sense which creates the situation of shutting down of the business in larger manner. The
country need to designing various strategies so that they can rebuild their economy in strong
manner and can gain more growth.
