Discussion
The disparity in distribution of the rewards and resources resulted in poverty and socio-
economic inequalities in American society. The disparity among the vast population is result of
unequal income and wealth distribution. The distribution of the wealth and income can be
determined on the basis of educational attainment (Bowles, Durlauf and Hoff 2016). In an
American society, there are mainly two types of class such as working class and middle class.
The working people whose incomes remain lower than the poverty line because of low familial
household income and low income jobs are called the working poor. The poor population of the
American has crossed 37 million in 2007 and more than half of population of the country
experienced poverty in some point of their life for 1 year or more.
There should be enough support from the government to solve the societal inequalities in
America. The challenges faced by the poor includes health care, debt and education in an
American society (Usa.gov 2020). As a result, it aggravates the sufferings of the near poor in
America. Therefore, the US could solve the problem of the inequality with the help of providing
health care and educational opportunities and debt reliefs to the near poor. Here, the emphasis
was on the social perspective related to unequal distribution of the opportunities and resources
across the society of the America, which result in poverty and economic inequalities in the
modern society. However, it is believed in America that enough opportunities are provided to
people to succeed. Furthermore, the government only extends support through legislation for the
people those who are recognized as poor by the public. Hence, it is required to offer social
securities for the disadvantaged section of the society by the government in order to eradicate the
poverty and economic inequalities.
