INTRODUCTION
Learning about the social theories is regarded to as very important as will be explaining that
how people must be interacting as group so that they could be understanding and accepting
different type of people or cultures as well (Reasons to Be a Criminologist. 2019). Sociology is
helping to know better understanding others, their culture or environment and yourself. This
particular project will be highlighting the way in which sociology can help in learning better
about social world and crime. The topic will also discuss about crime and social culture that is
talking about Marxism or functionalist theory which is telling about why is crime committed.
These specified theories are been chosen due to fact that these are discussing reason behind
criminal mind so as to highlight effect of social learning is having on crime.
MAIN BODY
Criminal behaviour is always learned and normally with interacting with other people during
the process of communication. With this there is certain this which a criminal learn from them
like the technique of committing crime that could be both simple and complex. Apart from this
first one there will be another thing that leads to specified drive, rationalisation or motive as well
(Crime, Social Learning Theory of, 2019).
Theory of crime – functionalist theory will be determining the concept that why crime is
important for society. This theory is been divided into 3 main dimension like limited amount of
crime is very necessary, crime is positive function while too much of crime will be also bad for
society that is bringing the difficulties into societies.
Thus it can be added that crime is necessary for society as not all the society members are
carrying on same values or beliefs with them. It can also be added that all the changes in society
will bring the form of deviance which will become standard for current world.
Theory of crime – Marxism theory e.g. use real life case to support the theory e.g. poverty
causes crime e.g. homeless case where they shoplift (Patten and Newhart, 2017). From the above
theory it can be said that crime is only due to result of structural inequalities which are there into
society and linked with capitalist economic system. It could be added that whole society is
divided on the bases of wealth, prestige and power which can be causing distance between
people. Many of the people are found stealing things from various place which is mostly due to
their unemployment or poverty.

Criminology always helps to improve society throughout the justice system like for
responding to crime and their treatment as well for criminal and victim both. Thus allowing the
people to understand them better and indicating that what will be cost that our society needs to
pay for these types of practices. So this will be playing important for society, its people and
environment and also understanding crime. Social theory will be practicing criminology for
gaining the understanding this sort of value or attitude and also preventing such type of pattern
(What Is Criminology?. 2019).With the help of the analytical, research and reasoning skills of
criminologist can be allowed to review case and solve problems into writing. So this will assist
in developing society into better place to live for other peoples with making us understand why
people commit crime and how others can protect themselves from it as well (Christie, Robertson
and Grainger, 2015). Some of the criminologist who is regarded to as social workers will help
these criminals into forms of rehabilitation so that they could be released after short period of
their imprisonment.
They will be working for social justice for other people with learning about education,
demographics and ethnicity of criminals (Chambliss and Schutt, 2018). They can also find out
their different types of behaviour along with analysing various angle like what the reasons are
affecting them and thereafter monitoring behaviours.
