Activity 1B
Estimated Time 20 Minutes
Objective To provide you with an opportunity to identify ways in which major institutions
in Australian society can impact clients as individuals and as part of community
and family groups.
Activity 1. Explain how your life has been influenced by the following institutions:
a) Education
Educational institutions have had an immense impact on my personal and
professional life. I have been a part of educational institutions ever since I was
born from pre schools to high school to college institutions. All of these have
contributed to the immense learning that I have received on numerous
different subjects which contributed to my personal and professional
development. In addition, these educational institutions have also imparted
essential non-academic knowledge to me such as the extreme importance of
cooperation and team work with others. Educational institutions have also
improved my effective communication skills allowing me to better articulate
my thoughts and engage in effective communication with others.
b) Religious institutions
Religious institutions such as temples, churches and mosques have also had a
significant impact on my personal life. Such institutions make me feel as part of a
greater community and have in the past helped me to make sense of our place in
the universe. Donations made by myself and the community at large to such
religious institutions have also resulted in the overall growth and development of
our community which has also had a significant impact on me personally
(Matthewman and Huppatz, 2020). Further visiting religious institutions with my
grandparents is one of the most beloved and cherished memories that I have of
my late grandparents and this showcases how religious institutions also
significantly impact the family dynamics in the modern world.

Health systems such as public and private hospitals, vaccination centres etc., have
also impacted my life in a significant manner. Such healthcare institutions have
played an instrumental part in ensuring that me, my family and members of my
