Sociological imagination:
The sociological imagination is the capability to see things from social points of view and
how they are interacting and influencing each other. For having a sociological imagination the
persons need to have the ability to pull away from the situations and think from an alternative
perspective (1). This capability is central for the development of sociological imagination on the
world. Sociological imagination is an outlook of the lives which helps to break away from
monotony or the causes for depression. Sociological imagination involves the process of making
the individuals deeply understanding of how their biography is the result of the historical process
and takes place within a larger social context. This is an application of imaginative thoughts to
ask and answer all the sociological questions.
Another way to describe the social imagination is proper understanding that the social
results are based on the fact of what to do. This is therefore an understanding that some aspects
of the society may lead to specific outcomes. The instances like norms, social contexts and social
actions all affect one another. The situations actually shape our points of view as well as the
thought process (3). These devices are analyzed to find out the way they will be relating to one
another. The Sociological imagination therefore can be considered as the quality of mind which
helps to realize the interplay of the socially with every individual.
Usage and benefits:
Sociological imagination is being used in the research of sociology and making difference in
appositive way (2). This helps in viewing oneself in the society to live in the new light. The way
of thinking gets changed where the individuals attract to analyses lives for different perspective
and ask questions which would never be asked if the acquisition of Sociological imagination did

not take place. This enables people to find out solutions to every personal problem which
ultimately help them in finding solution in the collective way. The more the people start to think
from the different points of view, the problems of miscommunications misunderstanding and
wrong concepts get reduced (4). Thus the social issues like racism, egoism and difference in the
communities will be eradicated. Extensive thinking from the eyes of the other through
imagination as well as research and understanding, have generally supported the idea of
prevention of conflicts within a social structure. Finally the concept of sociological imagination
can be adopted for manipulating people in a positive way (3). As the people learn from the
situations in their lives. Therefore the experiences if shifted to the aimed target, then the
members of the society can easily relate themselves with the situation and then analyze their
behaviors on the basis of the social imagination before acting.
Examples:
In order to understand the social imagination in more detail personal examples can be
helpful. For instance the society has the understanding of the different factors associated with
media. These are often positive or negative which leads to the development of certain opinion of
the members of the society. As media has a strong influence upon the lives of the people, and
wishes to report the interesting facts to the population therefore it goes in depth in researching
the situations. Now this source of information is converted to the source or morality due to
various experiences the community has faced due to misinterpretation of the media sources (1).
This has led too many people to reproach yet the idea is that the media speaks in support to the
common people now the idea and understanding about media in a negative way is often
expanded to the whole community. However, the individuals if see the news shared by the media

reporters and think from their points of view can understand the utility related to the news
shared.
According it the personal experiences, the issues of unemployment can be mentioned.
Here individual person employed in any kind of job does not think from the points of view of the
unemployed persons. In case the employed person sees the situation from the perspective of the
unemployed persons will release the uniqueness of the situation and support their emotions and
activities effectively. Similarly when the unemployed persons start to see the world from the
point of view of the employed persons can effectively realize the scopes they can and out to
solve the issues. The moment they will realize the situation of the one another, the moment the
social problems relating employment will be reduced eventually.
