INTRODUCTION
Sociology can be defined as study of society, pattern of social relationship, social interaction
and culture of everyday life (Ehrlich and Ziegert, 2017). This assignment will lay emphasis on
society issues, attitude, norms, changes in society, capitalistic system etc.
QUESTION 1
Gender inequality is one of the most common social issue which is faced by women in
both family and workplace. Sociological imagination helps in understanding ways in which
society places both the gender in unequal position of power, wealth and privileges. Restriction
upon women as compared to men are always high. Expectation from men and women by the
society is completely different. Women often have fewer choices and opportunities as compared
to men. In fact, culture give rise to this gender inequality as our culture devalue role of women
within the society. Our culture expects women to balance their personal family life as well as
their professional life.

Social norms are unwritten rules of behaviour that are required to be accepted and
considered by every individuals of a society (Giddens and Sutton, 2017). These unwritten rules
are known as norms as it helps in functioning of a society and also helps an individual to
understand right and wrong situation. There are various kinds of norms that are taken for
granted. One of the social norms taken for granted by most of the individuals is ‘be kind of
elders and open door for them or give up your seat’. Today people are busy in their lives that
they do not even have time to think of others who are standing or sitting close to them. Do not
interrupt someone while talking is another norm taken for granted by people as they only value
their time not of others.

There are various kinds of unwritten rules about behaviour in public, some of them are
conform and some of them are not.
Shake hands when you meet someone is one of the most common unwritten rules which is
conformed by me as it is one of the ways of greeting the other person.
Make direct eye contact with person while speaking is another tactic rule conformed by me
as it helps in making the other people feel important and valued.

Dress neatly and appropriately for the job as it helps in showing professionalism.

Expert knowledge is one of the most important and essential components of modern society
(Gottdiener, 2019). In past expert knowledge about relationship in physical world it was said that
time and place are not priority. But recently this fact has been disapproved and it is said that
relationship in physical world is dependent upon time and place majorly.

Cultural capital can be defined as social assets of a person that helps them in promoting
social mobility in a stratified society for example: education, style of speech etc. Yes, prior to
coming to university, I did have cultural capital. I have a vast knowledge of sociology and I have
got this knowledge by reading various kinds of books as an interest. Other than this I have also
attended various kinds of seminars on sociology which has helped me in developing wide
knowledge in this field.

Family and religion are informal social institutions. There has always been a conflict of
gender inequality i.e. both the genders are not placed equally in the society. Social institutes like
family and religion mostly operates in dominating section of the society (Park and Burgess,
2019). Family and religion are one of the most important social institutes as it helps an individual
to learn society norms, way in which they should behave and learn ways in which a society
operates. They are also helping in shaping the society in a well -defined manner. It helps in
explaining unchanging or unsaid rules of the society to people.

Identity of my culture is western culture which is mostly influenced by unique geography
of Australia. Each of us can identify ourselves on the basis of religion, dress, values, ideas etc.
Ethnic complexity of our society is quite diverse (Swedberg, 2018). Our culture plays a crucial
role in shaping out lives regardless of the cultural heritage. Social environment created by our
culture is influencing factors and shaping behaviour and characteristics of a person.

Capitalism is a political and economic system that in which a countries trade and
industries are controlled by private owners for profit rather than by the state. Benefits for

capitalism society it is an alternative to corruption, lack of incentives, poor information system.
It also helps in ensuring that resources are distributed according to individual preferences. It also
helps in responding to new consumer trends as well. But it has some challenges as well such as:
challenge in reducing exploitation of customers as firms are gaining monopoly power. To
increase wages paid to workers as firms with monopoly power pay lower wages to the
employees. It ais also increasing large inequalities.

Internet is one of the most powerful tools that can increase inequality or reduce
inequality. Internet innovations are widening inequalities (Wach, 2019). Most of the internet
users use internet for criticizing others n this criticism is increasing day by day. In order to
reduce it many organizations have updated their polices but failed to reduce these criticisms.
Most of the time these inequalities are created for middle class people and these inequalities are
increasing in terms of criticism. Many tines various kinds of jokes are also developed in order to
mock them because of which these inequalities are increasing.

I have used many types of agencies as consumer and user of technology. These agencies
help in making work easy and helps in providing effective solution in management of needs,
demands and desires. I had experience agency that helped in enhancing my experience from
starting to last.
