Introduction
The paper analyses the life of Joe Biden as the 47th vice president of the United States of
America (Ancu, 2014). The entire paper will include the background information related to Joe
Biden, reasons for campaigning as president of US, the strategies he used to campaign and the
group which supported him during his campaign.
Personal background and experience
Joseph Robinette Biden was born November 20, 1942, in Scranton Pennsylvania. Reports
indicate that Biden lived in Pennsylvania for ten years before moving to Delaware with his
family. Biden attended the Archmere Academy in Claymont whereby he performed well in the
school. Academically, Biden was above an average student and he used to work hard while in
school both in class and in other co-curricular activities such as school games (Biden Jr, 2015).
He was elected as the class president in the school before graduating in 1961. In 1965, Biden
earned the bachelor's degree from the University of Delaware whereby he majored in history and
political science. Different records indicate that Biden graduated with a class rank of 506 out of
688. After graduating, Biden used to play football but he was dreaming that by age of 30 he was
to be a senator in the state. After a few years, Biden joined the Syracuse University College of
law after he received a scholarship. Biden describes the entire life in law class as full of ups and
downs. He said that this law life was one of the boring life he has ever experienced (Biden,
2015). During the first year in the law school, Biden plagiarized more than 13 pages of the law
review and this incidence was not good to him. On 1966 Biden married Neillia Hunter while he
was a law student. By the end of 1971, the two couple had three children that are Joseph R.,
Robert Hunter, and Naomi Christina. In 1968 Biden the local Republican decided to recruit

candidate known as Richard Nixon but Biden came with an alternative and he registered as an
independent candidate (Bond & Compton, 2015).
Later, by 1969 Bidden decided to ran for Democrat in the New Castle County Council. At this
time he was lucky enough and he won the election with more than two thousand votes. Biden
assured his followers he will rule the US Senate for a couple of years and they were to support
him up to the end. From 1970 to 1972 Biden served in the council as he was still studying his
law course in the University. During his rule in the Council, Biden represented the 4th district in
the US Senate. He addressed a number of issues such as the opposition to the construction of
large highways which were believed to disrupt the Wilmington neighborhoods in the US (Bond
& Messing, 2015).
Biden's experience in political aspects developed since his childhood as a historian and political
science candidate in school. His experience also increased by learning the law in university. In
1972, Biden entered in U.S Senate campaign and at the same year, he proved his political
prowess in the USA. During this year Biden represented a unique circumstance whereby he was
to replace the Senator J Caleb Boggs who was almost retiring from politics. This year was
problematic for Biden because it was at this time when he was not financially stable and at the
same time the U.S president Richard M. Nixon was opposing him to enter in Senate (Giacomo,
2014). Biden experienced all sorts of challenges until her sister tried to intervene the matter and
assisted him with money to support his campaigns. Biden advocated for a number of the issue
during his campaign such as withdrawal from Vietnam, emphasizing on civil rights, improved
health care services and need for change in the USA. His campaigns were attractive and he was
in a position to lure a large number of followers who supported his manifestos. On November 7,

Biden has served as the 47th vice president of United States of America from 2009 to 2017. In
his, work Biden has been representing Delaware in U.S Senate from 1973 to 2009. As a member
of Democratic Party Biden anticipates being a candidate in 2020 election.
The reason why candidate run for president
Joe Biden has failed for a number of presidential elections. Despite having failed couple of years,
Joe Biden has announced that he is in for 2020 presidential elections. As he was launching his
campaigns Biden gave some reasons why he is running for 2020 elections.
He said that
As a former vice president of USA, he is the most qualified individual for the 2020 elections.
Biden also said that he is a better alternative to the president trump in the 2020 presidential
elections in the USA (Jacobs, Jongen & Zoutman, 2017).

Campaign strategy (strengths and weaknesses).
Some of the campaigning strategies used by Joe Biden include;
Bidden has been characterized by a number of achievements. In his campaigns, Bide tries to
educate the public on the experience he has to serve the USA government. He says that he has
the strengths that no other democratic individual or candidate in the USA does. Joe Biden was
also serving as a vice president at the reign of Barack Obama (Jančić, 2016). It is through this
period whereby Joe Biden acquired adequate skills as a leader in the USA government. His
campaigns are full of his achievements starting from what he has achieved since 1972 after he
entered the US Senate.
In his campaigns, Joe Biden assures the public that he will run as president by applying the
strategies he used in his career as a vice president. As a vice president Bidden in his career
helped in pushing the president Barack Obama to vocalize support on social and political matters
in U.S. Biden also includes his experience and connection with Barack Obama as a major source
of his political prowess in the U.S (Nielsen, 2016). He utilizes his populist image with fits in the
Democrats political strategy. Having served in US Senate for more than 36 years old, Biden said
that he will not be representing a new era in the US but he will be bringing back the USA on its
normal way of doing things.
On another hand the weaknesses associated with Biden's campaigns include;
Most of the time Joe Biden criticizes the rule of Donald Trump. Joe sees the rule of Trump as
inappropriate. He says that Trump is not in a position to rule the USA since he lacks the
experience as a political leader (Ratnam, 2014). By using this strategy it becomes problematic to
lure the groups supporting the rule of Donald Trump in the USA. In simple words, Joe says that

Trump has failed to maintain the image of the USA since he resumed the office after Barack
Obama.
Who is supporting the candidate?
Since 1972, Joe Biden has been fighting for change in the USA. When he entered the
government in 1972, Biden assured to respect the people of the USA and assured to fight for
their rights and healthcare services (Sharpless, 2017). Through his goals in politics, Joe is being
supported by a number of groups. The most group supporting Joe Biden is Democrats who think
that the candidate will rule like white a man and same time as the candidate with adequate
features borrowed from the reign of Barack Obama. In addition, we have groups such as the
working class which is supporting Biden to vie as a presidential candidate in 2020. The reason
for support from the working class is that Joe Biden is believed to stabilize the economy in the
USA thus solving a big challenge which is faced by the working class and middle class (Smith,
2014).

To sum up, the discussion has clearly indicated the life history of Joe Biden. The candidate is
anticipated to vie for 2020 presidential elections in the USA. The candidate has been serving in
the government for more than 35 years since he was elected in 1972 to serve in U.S. Senate.
