Discussion Board Post
AI Summary
This assignment is a response to a classmate's discussion post on family violence, focusing on the psychological impacts and societal implications. The response begins by acknowledging the alarming statistics of physical assault, highlighting the often-overlooked mental and emotional toll on victims, and the impact of violence on other family members, particularly children. Drawing on sociological theories and research, the response emphasizes that family violence is not confined to physical harm but creates a destructive environment that affects the entire family unit. The response also references the works of Straus & Smith (2017) and Reyes et al. (2015) to support the argument that family violence needs to be controlled through effective steps of both the law and the health organizations.

The facts provided by you has been quite informative and the statistical figures stating the
percentage of women being physically assaulted at their homes has left me astound. The
physical assault carries a mental torture too but there are many people, I won’t be gender
specific, as violence is common in both the genders, who has been facing mental stress too.
The violence has been taking place in the minds of the people due to the torture the family
members has been giving them. On learning social psychology and science, the psychological
impact of the violence in family is going on high trends which is not confined to physical
assault only. The aggression and the violence that the person is facing, impacts the other
members of the family too, no matter whether they are being physically assaulted or not. The
environment that gets created through these family violence destroys the entire family as a
whole, mainly the children gets impacted. As has been stated by Straus & Smith (2017), that
the family violence is not the one which only impacts the victim but the entire family
becomes a victim of it. This means that the physical or mental assault between the parents
impacts the psychology of the child and thus, this destroys his mental peace and creates a
disorder in it (Reyes et al. 2015). Family Violence and aggression needs to be controlled
through effective steps of both the law and the health organisations, any one working on it
would not provide effective results.
