1SOCIOLOGY
As a child growing up in Saudi Arabia, I was exposed and subjected to gender inequality
and I want to change this scenario and bring about a difference. Therefore, I would like to pursue
law so that after receiving the requisite education and becoming a lawyer, I can try to propose
changes in the legislative system of Saudi Arabia and ensure that all girls receive education and
are given access to job opportunities. Gender equality is a word I longed for but never
experienced. Born in the United States of America, moving to Saudi Arabia was a very difficult
change for my family and me. I lived in a community where women were not given the right to
express themselves or bring about a change. However, I was determined to break through the
obstacles and prove to everybody that I, a young inquisitive leader can break through the ground.
This subject interests me because I want to bring about a change and try to remove gender
inequality. Growing up in Saudi Arabia, I lived in a community where women were not given the
right to express themselves and bring about a change. I want to unleash the hidden leader inside
everybody, especially the intelligent girls who are in a vulnerable position and not allowed to
make a difference. I want to do it all for them. I think I am suitable for this course because I am
focused, logical, confident, mature, a careful thinker and a straightforward and a hard working
person. I analyze things on my own, I ponder about the untold and I am a thinker. Practicing
Business law entails one to possess a logical leader who does not succumb to one’s emotions, a
confident thinker with straightforward and well- analyzed decisions. I am a determined person
who is competitive in nature, which will help me in good stead. If I put my mind to something, I
hustle to earn it irrespective of the obstacles that come my way. I am also a perfectionist. My
experiences include being the captain of the football and basketball team in school, creating the
first ever Model International Court of Justice in our school and serving as the Vice-President.
As an ambassador, I have travelled to the office of The United Nations at Geneva, Switzerland

and addressed the people there on the pertinent issues of gender equality, slavery and peace. I
encouraged change, power and courage. My goal is to move mountains and pave the way for
new blood. I feel my knowledge and the requisite skills that I possess will help me to succeed in
my course of study. I have a plethora of hobbies and they include football, basketball, elocution,
debate, reading etc. I would like to study in your country because it does not differentiate people
based on gender and it promotes gender equality. Everybody, irrespective of his or her gender is
treated equally and is given access to all opportunities for their growth and development. After
completing this course from your university, I would like to use my knowledge to bring about a
difference in the world. I want to work towards abolishing gender inequality and ensure that girls
around the world are treated equally and are given the same opportunities as are given to boys. I
would work towards ending discrimination based on gender and ensure that girls are educated so
that they can make a difference. I would like to create a positive impact on society and the world
at large through my confidence and leadership. Before I turn over a new page, I want to turn my
back on this country knowing I unleashed the hidden leader inside everyone, especially the
intelligent vulnerable girls who were not allowed to blaze a trail. I want to look back and say,
“This is what you built, this is what you pushed through the barriers for, and this is for you.”
