The chosen article for this assignment is one of the news paper article from guardian
highlighting and illustrating the treatment of one of the renowned runner, Caster Semenya
targeting the athletic bias against the colour of women. For this assignment, Caster Semenya
has been chosen for illustrating the bias and the harassement faced by the women in the
context of the atheletic activities . This article sheds light on the fact how the rules pf the sex
testing on the level of the terstosterone among the female athelets has disproportionately
impacted the athelets from the southern region of the globe. Published on 26 April, 2018 in
the newspaper Guardian, this article exlplained the harrasements faced by the women to fix
up their body in a certain way for ensuring their particioation as a women. The article
furthermore highlited instancs where atheets like Dutee Chand, one of the famous sorinter
from India was being banned from participation in the year 2014 targeting the testosterone
level by the International Association of Athletics Federatios (IAAF). This article illustrated
the instances where the women of color especialy belonging from the southern hemisphere of
the globe are being targeted towards undergoing unnecessary medical interventions which
tends to be coercive and unfair. The article targeted insances of disrespect towards the rights
and the nature of the women arguing that women with high testosterone tends to have
advantages of their perormances over the women with the lower levels.
With the consideration of the response of the organization, this event targets to
highlight the discrimination and the harassement faced by the women of colour. In the chosen
incident, the context of the gender plays very important role towards the raising
discrimination and the practices against women.
The role of the gender has always been a topic of debate in the instances of the
controversial issues raised against the mistreatment and the discrimination against the
women. The instances of the race, gender and the colour are the factors of the discrimination
that has been highlighted in this article It furthermore illustrated the difference aming win

with high level of testosterone coapred to the fellow competitors that tends to approximate
the difference among women with high level of the testosterone and the men who intend to
participate in the competition. The article targets the practices and the regulaotory moves that
discriminates the women with colour from the men who are ot being considered and targeted
for any testing purpose.
According to my personal insight, I belive that some of the most disturbing thing
among this article that has been illustrates is the practice of sex testing and the instance of the
survelillance that keeps on haunting the participation of the women for too long. The article
highlighted the instance of the practice of the challenges regarding the diversity and why is is
important to voice out the challenges faced by the women with colour to stop the violation of
the basic right of the gfemale gender in the globe.
