According to Knox, there is a growing trend for people to never marry. What do you think the
reasons might be for this growing trend? Do you think you could decide to never marry?
Marriage is a choice and the growing reason for this trend is due to the following reasons. The
women now days are more careers focused and wish to live independently. This is also due to the fact that
women are chasing more towards education and financial stability. The love factor use to the primary
reason earlier but now it has become a secondary one. The trend of marriage is also declining due to the
lack of patience in today’s generation where sacrifice is not at all considered as an option. If there is any
kind of misunderstanding the couples tends to part ways. It has been the thinking of many people that
marriage mentality overvalues one particular relationship and undervalues the others. The pressure of
losing one’s identity is also the contributor of declining trend. The lack of freedom is also a fear which
has been seen in today’s generation and these results in losing the interest in marriage ( Frymorgen,
2018).
I could also decide to never marry because the responsibilities can be fulfilled even without living
together. Further, these times it is difficult to understand a person especially in arranges marriage, and
love marriage does not prevails much in 21st Century. Hence, in order to achieve the mental happiness of
both the parties I could decide not to marry.
