1SOCIOLOGY
Social problems are the condition that always results in negative consequences for
large number of people and it is normally recognised as the behaviour that is necessary to be
addressed as they always have a large impact on the personal lives (Oberst et al., 2017). This
paper shall elaborate on discussing about how personal problem can be caused by a larger
social issue.
I myself believe that personal problems are often the cause of larger social issues. For
example, if I take an example of the social expectations towards certain gender during the
1800s, if the society during those times as whole used to believe that women only had their
roles to play inside the home and to take care of the house, their husbands and children. They
were considered as been born to manage the households and serve their husbands. They were
stuck in the cult of domesticity. They were also considered to be unequal to their male
companions both socially and legally. It was a significant social issue and it used to cause a
depression towards the women who were ambitious, different and talented to go out and get
involved in the financial roles and the quest of scientific discoveries. The occurrence of
anxiety among most of the women were common and also, many used to suffer from eating
disorders. Even () in this regard have claimed that there is a history of mental illness of
majority of women during the middle 1800 and gender gap.
Hence, it is to conclude that larger social issues doe effect the personal life of human
beings and many of the times, result in mental suffering.
