encourage and maintain working relationships that promote goodwill and trust with
relevant people.
Answer – Encouragement, teamwork and communication is needed to be developed within
relevant people for maintaining a healthy work relationship and promoting goodwill. It will
also help in developing trust. It is important for developing trust with relevant people, which
in turn help in encouraging people. With the help of effective communication, it would be
possible for encouraging and maintaining working relationship. In order to communicate with
each other, it is necessary for associating with one another with well listening and speaking
skills. Another method would be building strong team, which would not only help in
developing a trust among relevant people, but it also help in encouraging in working with one
another.
1.4 Explain the principles of equality and diversity and how to apply them when
working and communicating with others.
Answer – The basic principle of equality is used at work places which sets the entitlement for
being treated fairly with the society and any place of work and residence. It regulates the
right of equal resources, rights and opportunities among co-workers. On the other hand,
diversity is used for id1entifying the differences among the various class of people working
together in the society or in a work place. Diversity principle works on creating a culture and
practices which would help in recognizing mutual respect and values.
The policies of equality and diversity are needed to be implied in a workplace. This
could be implemented by designing policies which would be preventing in certain
employment and disputes of equal rights for helping each and every employees.

2.2 Explain the different methods and techniques used to inform relevant people about
work activities.
Answer – There are various kind of methods and techniques which are used in the
construction industry within relevant people for informing and sharing information about
work activities. The basic structure of informing professional within a project of construction
follows a hierarchy structure, which flows from higher level to lower level. The different
methods used are oral information sharing which involves techniques like spoken message in
the modes of face to face conversation, presentation meeting or telephone; written
information sharing which involves techniques like emails, letters, memos, fax, plans,
reports, manuals, and documentation and finally nonverbal communication. Other techniques
used for informing relevant people about work activities are electronic communication,
electronic document management system also known as EDMS, and standardization.
2.3 Explain the effects of not informing relevant people with the expected level of
urgency.
Answer – The construction industry is a constant are of risk and huge complexities. Without
proper cautions, life risks could occur at any time, which would initially lead to threat of life
to every individual working in the area. In such a place, if proper flow of information related
to work activities cannot be carried out in the expected level of urgency, severe damage could
occur to labor and other amenities losses could occur too. In the industry, due to its complex
nature, various kinds of stakeholders exists in the different levels, which would be facilitating
various kinds of resources. Therefore, in order to maintain the flow of work in the project,
effective modes of information sharing regarding the work activities should be maintained.
Otherwise, optimization of the work would not be fruitful and the project might fail. In times

of urgency, poor methods would led in effective the flow of work, which eventually would
led in loss of investments and threat to human life.
2.4 Explain the different types of work activity related information and to what level of
detail the following people would expect to receive: -colleagues -employers -customers -
contractors -suppliers of products and services -other people affected by the work/

Answer – In the project site or construction site, various kind of stakeholders are involved. In
this flow of hierarchy, information related the work activity is shared with them. Every
individual in liable for getting information related to the work which in turn would help them
knowing about the work progress of the work. The different types of work activity related
information would be related to the progress of the work, expected date of completing the
work, issues related to the work, material related information, and investment related
information.
Colleagues and employers eligible for receiving the various kind of information of the
work activities which are related to the progress of the work, as employers and colleagues
would be looking upon the work directly which is done by labors. Customers would be
receiving the information of the work activity related to the completion of the work as the end
product would be used by them. Contractors and suppliers would be receiving the work
related information which would be dealing with project material and inventory management.

and comments.
Answer – The techniques of encouraging questions or requesting for clarification related to
the work related information in construction falls under the category of effective flow of
communication. There are different techniques which deals with these two amendments.

Clarification involves the process where the speaker is backed with the essential meaning of
the work, which would monitor how the listener have understood anything which the speaker
have discussed about. Therefore, clarification would be involving certain aspects of non-
judgmental questioning and summarizing and seeking proper feedback as assuring the
accuracy of the discussed topic.
Listeners are encouraged with certain amount of questions which monitors how well
the listeners are able to understand the extent of the topic discussed by the speaker. It would
help them in clearing any kind of issues which rises while asserting the discussion topic in the
project. Techniques which involves this process are open questioning and closed techniques.
Open questioning would be good for developing an open questions and investigating more
details about the topic. Closed end questioning would be good for testing the understanding
of the listener and concluding a discussion which would help in decision making and frame
setting.

work activities which deals with progress of the work, asserting the result of work, marking
the achievements of the work, problems related to the occupation, opportunities and health
and safety requirements of the coordinated work. The different ways are improving the plan
of the work, finding a good construction management software, with the help of building
management modeling, investing in proper training, and improving the communication.

Answer – Alternative proposals are taken as a substitute plans by the apex level management
in the construction industry which would eventually help if the primary plans fails to meet the
requirements. There are various kind of techniques, which could be used by the management
for providing clarification and validation for alternative proposals. Methods like
brainstorming, problem statement guidelines, SWOT analysis, problem trees, creating logical
framework and force-field matrix. These techniques would help in making a valid
clarification to the alternative proposals with the relevant people.
4.3 Explain the methods of suggesting alternative proposals.
Answer – Alternative proposals need some validations which helps in suggesting to relevant
people about the benefits of using alternative proposals. The apex level management uses
different methods for suggestion alternative proposals to potential clients and stakeholders for
validating the benefits of the work. Employers uses various kind of analysis tools like
PESTLE, porters five force analysis, and competitive analysis for presenting the alternative
proposals. Presentation, general meetings with potential stakeholders are some of the
methods which would be helping in suggesting alternative proposals.
