SOCIOLOGY 3
Youngsters living in economically backward areas and custody etc. are mostly found facing ill-
health symptoms like obesity, depression lack of immunity, etc. (Gordon, et al., 2015)
2 Representations of black young men and boys in the media
This representation is also a Report of the REACH media monitoring project, whose writers or
the producers are Stephen Cushion, Kerry Moore and John Jewell. It was published in the year
2011 by School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies Cardiff University. This
representation analyses the extensive coverage by the media for the black young men and boys
residing in British. These people here are facing all kinds of dominance and are usually
considered as criminals of various crimes mostly of murders, involved in gangs or knives. Hence
they are found to have a very clear negative image in the media. Millions of stories held up in
media are focused on the negative image of the black people and a very dew on the white ones.
These black youth are to suffer a lot of problems only based on the assumption of their class,
ethnicity or color.
Few scholars in Literature Review on this topic determined that “media discourse is the main
source of people's knowledge, attitudes, and ideologies, both of other elites and ordinary
citizens" was stated by van Dijk in the year 2000, which was argued by Allan in the year 2005 by
mentioning that media provides an essential and major role in enhancing this discursive and
leaves space for discussion by the public in relation to social issues. Etc.
This difference is needed to be minimized which can only be done upon having complete or
sufficient knowledge on this topic so that all human beings may lead their lives with equity of
justice (Cushion, et al., 2011).

3 Gender inequality amongst the youths
This is a literature review form of representation. Which was produced by Anne Mikkola in the
year 2005 at the University of Helsinki, RUESG, and HECER? In this, it was determined that
gender plays a very important role in the development process of all the nations. The young
women are given less economic and political opportunities for improving their social lives. Right
from their birth, they are been kept deprived of education, wealth ownerships, to work, etc.
Jacobsen in the year 2002 stated that very little attention is paid to the development or the issues
or disadvantages faced by youth boys as all the importance is always given on the girl's issues.
She further states that boys are facing more trouble as compared to that of girls in today's
scenario which are completely being ignored (Joyce, 2002). This was argued completely by
Easterly in the year 2001 by stating that all the literature and studies are reflecting the suffrages
of the girls faced from childhood till death (William, 2001).
Conclusion
All these representations are very essential and helpful in reflecting the condition of the youth
boys and girls facing injuries and damages due to various situations which must be given a focus
upon and hence tried to be resolved. Care to homeless youth, food to a hungry child, and all the
basic needs if provided properly than they can also grow up as developed adults. Equal rights to
all the individuals etc. Hence representation is very important for creating awareness and
resolving the problems (Mikkola, 2005).
