Through this memo I intend to discuss with you my interest in working as a storage software
engineer at Dell, a computer technology company headquartered in Texas. Following is an
overview of the requirements of this position at Dell. Following brief also includes an
assessment of my qualifications and skills which may suit this position.

Job Position Summary: Providing front line support for Dell’s engineering group by using
innovative and cutting edge technology
I have completed a bachelors degree in computer sciences and am proceeding with a
master’s degree in the same field. In the course of study I have learnt the art of software
development and I can offer my expertise in the field to the organisation.
Job Requirements
1 The job requires a bachelor’s or higher degree in computer science. Prior experience is not
a preliminary criteria of the job position.
I have acquired a bachelor’s degree in computer science from University of California. I am
also proceeding with a Master’s degree in Information Technology from University of
California San Diego.
2. Knowledge about standard principles, theories, concepts and techniques acquired through
an established body of knowledge.
In the course of my studies of commuter science I have acquired the knowledge of
underlying principles, theories, concepts and techniques of computer software and hardware
processes.

3 Knowledge of programming languages and systems
In the course of my studies I have acquired the knowledge of programming languages like C,
C++, JavaScript, Python and Java. The course also included study of system software
development, device drives, BIOS and other firmware related to computers.
4.Written and verbal design specification to code/ debug programmes
During my studies and subsequent internship with ABC software California I have learnt the
processes of debugging and coding programmes.
5. Good knowledge of software- hardware interaction and storage/ networking architecture
and procedures
During the course of my studies I have acquired the knowledge of software/hardware
interaction and storage/ networking architecture
Implied Requirements
As the requirements talk of participation, team work skills and interpersonal skills along with
good communication skills requirement is implied with in the requirements.
During the course of my school and college level studies I have participated in many team
projects and communication oriented tasks such as managing house teams and
competitions. During these team tasks I have acquired good team work skills and
communication skills. Additionally, I have done a special six months certificate course in soft
skills which included team skills and communication skills.
Knowledge and Skills needed
The position demands knowledge of programming languages, hardware software
interaction, storage networking architecture and networking files and other system software.
With a bachelor’s degree I have acquired the knowledge of computers systems and
programming languages which I can apply to managing and developing systems and
software as a software engineer.
Experience and Achievements
I have worked as a computer software intern in ABC software California for a period of six
months. Key responsibilities included participation in system software development projects
and programming and coding software programmes.
Passed in A grade in certificate course in soft skills at NetCom Learning

To conclude I think that the position of Software Engineer with Dell would be a great
beginning for my career in the field of information technology and computer systems. This
job would be a great value addition to my knowledge of computer systems.
