1.0 Introduction and Problem Statement
Melbourne along with other large cities in Australia relies heavily on electricity infrastructure.
These sources of electricity generators are located at city fringes that power the entire city (Dow,
Retrieved on 19th March 2018). In case air-conditioning systems were to be halted for a short
period of time, there would be widespread power outage leading to serious consequences. The
Age reports that such outage could force 300,000 people immediately from their offices in CBD.
In order to tackle this serious problem, companies are installing solar panels on their rooftops.
Rise in investments in solar power installation have spread throughout the city. This has greatly
led to reduction in dependence on power generated on the city fringes (Reed, 2009). The scope
of this study examines various corporate offices that have been turning to solar energy for their
regular need of electricity. These businesses are generating scope for sustainable future by
transforming gradually to green energy. This scope of business research project could provide
more opportunities for further research in realising investments made in solar power installation
or in analysing increase usage of green energy (de Oliveira, 2009).
2.0 Aims and Objectives
This research projects evaluates various aims and objectives concerning installation of solar
panels across city offices (Burleson, 2009). As CBD area is filled with various corporate offices
and other shops, the research has been conducted in that area specifically. the following are the
aims pertaining to the study.

3.0 Methodology
In order to understand impact of reducing electric consumption and increase dependence on solar
energy, the study has selected mixed methodology. A mixed methodology including qualitative
and quantitative data collection and analysis has been adopted in order to conduct the study and
arrive at its results.
o Literature Review: Environmental factors along with shortage of electricity and its
rising costs have been affecting CBD offices (O'Brien, 2010). Shortage of power with
power disruptions have often led to large number of people vacating their offices during
peak hour s hampering productivity and work flow. The study will analyse several
journals, internet sources, books, company magazines and newspaper in order to arrive at
findings.

o Data Collection: Data will be collected from sources mostly secondary in nature.
Meaning second hand data will be collected from CBD offices and these company y
magazines.
o Interviews: The study will include relevant interviews from CBD offices for supporting
findings related to secondary data. Once data from secondary sources has been collected
and supported by interviews, the scholar will arrive at discussion of results (Bond, 2010).
4.0 Secondary Data and Data Analysis Methods
The study will collect data mostly from sources secondary in nature, especially from CBD
offices and offices of solar panel installations (Pullen, 2009). Data will be available from internet
sources and newspapers. Moreover data will also be available in latest journals on the
environment.
Post collecting variable data from multiple sources, it will be arranged in Ms Excel sheet and
correlation analysis will be conducted.
5.0 Conclusion
The study will be based on collecting data from valuable sources of qualitative and quantitative
nature. Then such data collected will be analysed using statistical analysis and inductive
techniques. Post which results for the findings will be arrived at.
