Research Question
 Which country is the safest for tourist in Africa; South Africa or Nigeria?
Concepts
A comparative concept has been used in the study in order to gain research findings
associated with criminal activities taking place in Nigeria along with South Africa. This concept
has enabled in integrating a substantive notion regarding the legal system of both the countries.
This concept has been used in order to highlight how crime rates have affected the nation’s
tourism, thereby affecting their economy, wildlife, and available resources.
Methodology
It is observed that the research method applied to understand the topic is identified as
crime mapping research method. This approach has been used for the purpose of analyzing and
gaining insight on the crime scenario of Nigeria as well as South Africa since they belong from
the same continent i.e. Africa. These two nations have had a historical relationship since the past
decade. Crime events through this research method have favored in underpinning criminal
activities taking place in both countries.
Theories
The theories, which have been implemented in the case study, include positivist
sociological theory and the positivist criminology for highlighting the criminal activities that are
taking place as along with the social changes taking place due to the occurrence of criminal
activities in Nigeria and South Africa. These two theories have been approached to portray
findings through critical and empirical investigation in order to examine the research question of
whether Nigeria is the safest nation for the tourists or is it, South Africa.
