1) A summary of your work experience
Since I have educated and learned courses and sessions in the field of beauty and
cosmetics, it was a great chance to show my skills, abilities and knowledge in giving various
types of spa services. I have worked in a well-reputed organization in Leeds, named Spartan
Spa House. It is a very popular spa centre where customers are come to take numerous kind
of services. This spa centre covers services such as jet bath, steam room, sauna, mud bath,
seaweed body wraps, herbal and clay body masks, waxing, reflexology. I have acquired to
knowledge in such types of services. I also facilitated day services in which pedicure,
manicure, paraffin treatments and much more. I have both positive and negative experiences
while working such types of spa centres. From the very start, I do have interest in giving spa
and other beauty services to the customers as it is my passion in which I wanted to grow
myself and later want to open my own spa centre. My colleagues were very supportive and
guided me throughout my journey. It assisted me to develop various skills and knowledge.
Sometimes, I got frustrated when I had to deal with customers who have typical demands and
tantrums. These things lead me towards stress. On the other side, the work of spa employee is
quite challenging as I had to deal long couple hours shift which affected my health as well.
Although, it helped me to deal diverse people where I was able to make couple of new
relationships and bonds.
2) A consideration on how that experience has advanced your skills and knowledge
Dealing in the environment of spa centre helped me to boost up my skills, abilities
and knowledge. Some of key skills that I have grown are creative skills, art, problem-solving
skills, communication and interaction skills. When I had to deal with people I communicated
with customers in order to know their requirements or demands or any concerns related with
skin allergy or so on. By analysing all such things had helped me to grow in creativity so that
customers could be overwhelmed with their taken services by me.
3) A summary of how that experience relates to the course of study applied for.
I have taken courses in beauty and cosmetic line and enhance my learning in courses
such as skincare, massage therapy, cosmetology and in nail technology. I got a chance to
apply my knowledge in the respective spa centre. With the help of learning of massage
therapy, it helped in giving different types of massage services. It helped me in getting
knowledge about the key points where a person can relax and calm after taking such services.
My knowledge in oil variants helped me to know which oil is suitable to the demands and
needs of customers. Every customer has different skin texture, whether it can be oily, normal,
dry or sensitive, I should have the knowledge as if anything went wrong it could affect their
skin, also simultaneously affect my career as I could lose the job. Therefore, this learning and
education in the respective line helped me to deliver my best in spa services.
