2. Based on Daniel Goleman's six leadership styles discuss and assess the efficacy of
Leadership styles used in Spark NZ change efforts.
According to the information published in an article of Pinterest (2018), it is observed that
there are six leadership styles been provided by Daniel Goleman which is helpful in
increasing the employee’s performance and organisation’s productivity (Pinterest, 2018). The
leadership styles have been emphasised in regards to the Spark NZ and the change efforts are
also been analysed. The Spark NZ is a New Zealand telecommunication company which has
been providing the mobile network services across worldwide. The leadership styles lead to
creating change within the company so that the goals and objectives of the company can be
successfully attained.

1. Commanding – In this style of leadership, the leaders use an autocratic leadership
approach and use of punishments, threat, tight control and many other techniques for
the operations management within the company. This leadership style has not been

2. Pascesetting – This style leads to emphasising on the meeting of the goals and
performance of an organisation. The standards have been set-up so that employees get
motivated and leaders use such indicators for enhancing their performance. Spark NZ
adopts such style in its leadership to ensure the success of change efforts and increase
performance in order to achieve objectives.
3. Democratic – This style focuses on building up of collaboration and co-operation
within the organisation (Intranet, 2018). Spark NZ uses such style for improving the
team spirit and listening capacity for the changes taking place within the organisation.
This is one of widely practice leadership skill across worldwide.
4. Affiliative – It leads to promoting of harmony within the team so that the
employee can work in a group and directed towards achieving the organisational goals
and objectives. Spark NZ also uses such leadership style in its business practices
which have helped the company in bringing together the people, encouraging them
towards work and thereby, resolving conflicts among personnel.
5. Visionary – Such leadership style leads to creating a common vision and motive
for all the employees working in the organisation. It is also known as the
Authoritative leadership style which is practiced for inspiring people for working
effectively and efficiently. Spark NZ has used such style for motivating people
towards achieving a common goal.
6. Coaching This style leads to connecting the individual’s goal with the
organisational goals and objectives (Intranet, 2018). This is one of the significant
styles used by the Spark NZ in which the leaders encourage the personnel to connect
their own goals and objectives with that of organisational goals and motives.
