REFLECTION PAPER 2
The grade level/lesson being learnt
In the video, the children are in grade two of education. This can be identified by the age
of Sean who is 8 years old. Children at grade are between age 7 and 8 years. Another reason why
this is grade two is due to the frequent questions asked by students to seek more information.
This cognitive ability develop at grade two. The children can also be seen playing for longer
periods without getting tired. This trait is experienced among grade two children.
Classroom environment
The classroom environment in this case is conducive. The children are very few thus
there is no overcrowding and this makes it easier for both the normal and special education
teacher to attend to the needs of each child well. The class is also equipped with resources that
each child has easy access thus making it easier to understand.
Type of socialization being encouraged
In the video, it is the primary socialization that is being encouraged by the teacher. This is
because the teacher can be seen teaching the children on some values that they should display so
that they can fit within the community. In this case, the teacher is trying as much as possible to
ensure that the normal kids regard Sean as normal. This is because it is not actually good to
discriminate people in the society just because they are physically disabled.
What the special education teacher is doing
In the video, the special education teacher is seen taking care of the disabled child.
Before that, the teacher was also responsible for moving the child around the school with the
help of a wheelchair. The special needs education teacher can also be seen provides further

instructions to the disabled child. Since the impaired kid does not have the ability to hold
teaching aids, the special education teacher can be seen holding the teaching aids (kid’s
electronic tablet) on behalf of the kid. Finally, the special needs education teacher is assisting the
kid take part in games outside the classroom.
Identification of the child receiving special education services
In the video, it is quite easy to identify the student who is receiving special education
services. This si possible due to the presence of the special education teacher. The student can be
seen running around with the help of the teacher. In classroom, the child can also be identified
since the special education teacher is assisting him take part in the demonstrations of body parts.
The student can also be conspicuously identified due to the wheelchair.
Additional information on the school
The school took one of the best initiative in the community. Unlike other schools that
separate disabled children from the rest and provide special education, it is recommended that
children should learn together. I therefore laud the initiatives made by this school in particular
and other schools should follow suit.
Do the students seem happy?
In the whole video, I observed that the kids were happy. This could be seen through the
manner in which they were answering questions. The students are also happy since they are
singing along with the teacher with much ease. The teacher is not pushing them around to learn
or participate in learning activities.

Modifications or recommendation for special Education Students.
There are different recommendations that I would propose for special education students.
First, the school ought to put in place infrastructure that is suitable for the children with the
special needs. This includes roads and pit latrines. The roads/pavements should be constructed in
a manner that is suitable for the children to move around to avoid accidents. For example, the
pavements should not be that steep.
