1DISCUSSION
It has been noted that in the context of a disaster, human beings become more vulnerable to the
emotional loss and the sense of trauma. Rather than the loss of the physical or material assets, the
psychological abrasion seems to affect much to the sufferers and they seek a spiritual assistance,
a kind of emotional assurance to their loss from the care providers (Brown, Hickling, & Frahm,
2016).
Since the medieval ages, the community leaders had been putting enough stress on
providing a spiritual care that acts as an emotional supports to the people suffering disasters.
However, the way of providing spiritual support varies considerably on the beliefs and the
experiences. A nurse need to diagnose the root cause of the mental unrest and provide a holistic
care by infusing mental strength and confidence, however, not giving any false hope (Janelli,
Scherer, Kanski, & Neary, 2014).
